2000 st1100 knocking noise and oil coming out of one carb

ok so bike runs pretty good after I put new plugs and got rid of some oil , but it still makes a noise almost like a chain having some slop when is not under load but the only chain I can think of is oil pump chain with I don't think that is the case.
Dan would be your go to guy on the ST1100, as he has forgotten more than most people know about them

I would suggest sending a PM message to him directly and working with him to trouble shoot the issues. Its often difficult to trouble shoot post by post, perhaps the two of you talking in person, or even on the phone may help.
Now if it were a ST1300, I would have already snatched the bike away from you and taken it hostage until I found the root of the problem.

Absolutely! That was mine once. One thing to watch for - I initially set my carbs. idle mix too weak, which made the throttle response rather 'flat', but an extra half-turn open and it runs a treat.
