I was apprehensive about my first oil change. I read posts from three different folks. Good tips from all. super easy to do. Pulled shifter side lower plastic, easy. Removed 17 mm plug with open end wrench. Lots of room.
Left bike on kick stand. After through draining, replaced plug. Then up on center stand she went. I was able to remove old oil filter by hand ( thank you PO). Laying on back and reaching under from brake peddle side to get ahold of filter. Also not hard to access the filler plug, while engine was warm to soften plastic valve cover panel. But a little fiddly. Put in 4.1 quarts of T-6 synthtic shell 5-40 (19 bucks at napa) and Hi-Flo filter that looked almost identical to stock Honda filter. 8 bucks at Honda store. Spilled a little oil. Thanks for the help from members.

I think some of the guys have found T-6 for under $20 at Walmart. Keep your eyes open and buy it when its on sale before you need it.

Hi Todd, jun 9-11, a couple hour ride to seven bays wa. from my home, I'm almost sure I can go. Will rsvp soon.
Last summer a friend and I went for a morning breakfast ride to Idaho casino on back roads from Spokane valley and
were passed by a half a dozen st 1300's and st 1100's. They were having fun. I wanted to tag along but my gl1000
didnt want to. Thank you for the invite. Dave.
