Miles per bar?

Please shout out about how many miles you've gone when that last bar starts flashing.
About how many miles at half tank of fuel?
What is the most miles from a full tank?

1. Mine was down to 1 blinking bar a number of times in 13.5 years of ownership--I avoided it, and I wouldn't trust the miles countdown. When it happened, I'd memorize the odometer reading and give myself 20 miles to find fuel.

I average about 310 to 320 miles when that LAST BAR starts flashing.
AND there's ALWAYS 1.2 to 1.4 Gals. left when I fill up at that time.

Mine jumps from 2 bars, to flashing, and if I have to round a roundabout it goes back to 50 miles left! Don't trust it!

When I first got my 07 I was riding in a loop on the fwy around town testing something I'd just added onto the bike. The last bar flashing and countdown started, telling me I had 30 something miles remaining. I made it about 2 miles further before I ran out of fuel and was able to coast to an off ramp and all the way safely off street. Aaa came and gave me a few gallons and I went to fill up. That was the first and last time I trusted that function on my bike.

I've never run my ST1300 out of gas (yet!) and never put more than 7.1 gallons in it IIRC. The way I usually ride the bar starts flashing at 270 - 290 miles. My gas gauge is about .5 gallons off - at the point it indicates 1.0 gallon remaining it actually has about 1.5 gallons left. I can't exactly remember now but I guess around 330 is as far as I've I chanced it.

Since the bars indicate roughly 1/8 of a tank each the half a tank range in miles doesn't have much relevance to me. Half a tank will show for as long as it takes to burn off about .9 gallons or about 40 miles.

I read a suggestion somewhere that low fuel levels in the lower tank reduce cooling of the internal fuel pump ?? If so,,, that would to be avoided,,, Cat'

I get 35-40 miles per bar depending on my riding style at the time. Usually the last bar blinking will start between 260 and 280 miles on the tank. It will indicate somewhere between 48-52 miles to go before empty when the bar starts flashing. I have taken it down to 20 miles to go; was on the way home with quite a few fuel stations around so I thought I'd check to see how far it would go. Usually fill up between 200-240 miles when on a trip.

There was a time that I was riding two days between fill-ups, I would see the last bar start flashing around 245-250. It said I had 50 miles and would start the count down. I got it down to the "--" a few times, when it would hit around 19 miles. So I would hightail it to the nearest gas station, so I wouldn't run out. Most I ever saw it take was about 7.2 gallons.

One time at road trip it got down to one bar and we immediately headed for a gas station. I never took note of the gas needed to top off. Now I fill up at about every 200 miles or two bars whichever comes first.

I had to push the ST once when the key broke in the gas cap. Not something I want to do ever again.
