I thought it worthwhile to mention that a roadside memorial where David met his fate are still intact (a cross strapped to a stop sign base.) I never met Jackpine but I do know this intersection well and think of him (and all the ST brethren) every time I go through the intersection.

Thanks for the info. Where is the memorial at? Next time I am up that way I need to visit. I still miss him

First event I ever went to was the Jackpine Savage ride at Anamosa, Iowa. Never knew Dave but I had a chance to meet a lot of great people that inspired me to ride the way I have after that! Russ.

It's located at the intersection of highway 63 and Wabasha county 7.

Nearly five years later, I went through the intersection today. The cross strapped to the Stop sign is finally gone. Thinking of replacing it.
