2026 Dartboard Rally - beginner friendly 12hr format

For anyone wanting to try out an Iron Butt type rally but in a smaller beginner friendly format, check out the 12 hr Dartboard Rally in Florence, KY on 19Sept26. This is designed to a straightforward rally without calculus level routing required, nor 1000 mile days. But it is designed and run by the same top notch team running the 2027 and 2025 Iron Butt Rally. Why are they required to have insurance your paying for but you're required to have your own insurance to ride the rally? Doesn,t make sense.

Most likely because if something happens often not only the person who did wrong will be sued but the organizers of the event will be named in the suit as well. The fact that the organizers had nothing to do with the incident does not preclude them from being named in the lawsuit. Once they have been included they must spend money defending themselves no matter how frivolous the allegation against them might be. It can sometimes cost considerable sums of money to get to the point where a judge decides that the charge against a particular party who was named in the suit is stupid and dismisses it. Organizers don't want to pay from their pockets if the need to defend themselves against an allegation arises, so they purchase insurance to financially protect against that.

I have never heard of this rally before. It gives many people the opportunity to get a taste of the rally world at a more relaxed pace. It sounds like a good idea to me.
