2026 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R
KTM’s top adventure model gets a reboot for 2026. The 1290 Super Adventure R will be replaced with the 2026 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R, with increased displacement, new technology, improved bodywork, and more.
Engine displacement is increased from 1,300cc in the outgoing 1290 model to 1,350cc in the new 1390 model. Additionally, the bike receives new Camshift technology, which provides variable valve timing with two individual cam profiles. KTM claims the new engine makes 106.9 lb-ft of torque compared to the 1290’s torque of 101.8.
The 1390 Super Adventure R is powered by a 1,350cc V-Twin and includes variable valve timing.
We recently tested the 1,350cc V-Twin in the 2027 KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo, the R’s street-focused brother fitted with the Automated Manual Transmission. In the S Evo, the engine makes a claimed 173 hp.
Compared to the S Evo’s WP semi-active suspension, the R gets a more traditional suspension setup. WP components include a 48mm XPLOR split cartridge fork and an XLPOR Progressive Damping System shock. Both offer 9.4 inches of travel. Ground clearance is 9.5 inches, and seat height is 34.6 inches. The bike’s fuel tank holds 6.1 gallons, and its ready-to-ride weight is listed as 509.2 lb.
Providing access to the bike’s ride modes and other rider aids is a new vertically mounted 8-inch touchscreen dashboard. The dash offers built-in navigation that includes route planning, waypoints, A-to-B planning, offline routing, and more. The bike comes with cornering ABS and traction control, Offroad ABS, four standard ride modes, cruise control, and a keyless ignition.
Improvements to the rest of the bike include new bodywork, new LED lighting with cornering light, a shorter off-road windshield, and more storage options. The frame stiffness has been increased, and the standard engine guard has been reworked with an additional arm toward the engine bracket. The bike also gets new Dunlop Trailax Raid tires, Brembo clutch and brake master cylinders and brake pads, new handlebar clamps, and new handguards.
