I bought my 93 ST1100 a few months ago, that's when I started coming onto this site and seeing a lot of talk about up grading to a 40 amp alternator. Is there an easy way to tell if mine has been upgraded? I kinda think the owner before me would have from the way he took care of the bike.

The 40 amp alternator looks like a regular automotive type unit air cooled. The 28 amp unit is sealed. Take off the left panel under the seat. By the battery if there’s a Voltage Regulator/ Rectifier with a white plug with 6 wires of which 3 are yellow, you will still have the 28 amp alternator.
