I just finished installing heated grips and I am looking for accessory power to run the relay for the grips as I don't want them powered when the ignition is off. I can install the relay under the plastic (preferred ) or under the seat. As of now , all the plastic is off.
I just can't find switched power.

You are gonna need a switch regardless somewhere unless you want your grips on all the time. If that is the case take off the left mirror and check the orange/white wire for switched pwr.

Thanks - you are correct. I need the switched power for the relay supplying power to the on/off sw.

Thanks for the info

Is it the Hondaline heated grips? If so, they go of with the bike.

If not, on the left side, under the pocket is either the accessory quartet harness (if fitted) or if not, a nine pin clear connector that this plugs into. Switched power is probably the light green/black wire - check to make sure they didn't change the wiring colour.

Double check this, as the parking lamp filament (orange/white wire) is disabled when the turn signal is activated, and enabled when the turn signal is inactive. This scenario can be observed at either of the two turn signal lamps on the mirrors, or by examination of the wiring schematic. Perhaps a better (certainly more convenient) choice for your relay enable source, would be to use one of the available connectors in the quartet harness, as suggested by Spotthegerbil.

This is good advice, though a little clarification regarding wire coloring maybe in order. Looking at the wiring schematic there is a connector labeled 'Options', this is the connector that the quartet harness (if installed) connects to. Note that there are two red/green wires in the connector, they are not the same, one of them is 'on with the ignition', while the other is always 'on'.

The 'on with ignition' red/green wire is protected by fuse E (or fuse F for ABS models), if the quartet harness is installed the wire color changes depending upon the connector, check the link that Spotthegerbil provided to determine the correct wire color.

As mention by someone else, the power to the mirrors running light does alternate on -off when the signal is on. I tried it on my st1100 when i was hooking up a relay. I assume the st1300 will be the same. I took power near the fuse box, headlight circuit I believe.
