I bought my ST last year and as a gift to myself, upgraded my old crummy riding gear to a Roadcrafter 1-piece. Since I'm tall (6'6"), I rode to Duluth to test 'em out in person and talk with the folks there - custom altered suits are not returnable.
I've been happily riding since I got it last year, but the fit's just not right for me. I'm trying to determine how these suits fit others before I see if 'stich can alter mine.
I regularly wear a 34w x 36l pant and a 44 L jacket. I got a 46L suit with 2" extra below the knees and an ellipse to add some torso length. The decision to go with the 46 instead of the 44 was from the 'stich employee that helped me, and may be causing the problems I'm having now
.
The legs fit fine lengthwise on and off the bike. No complaints there.
The neck is way too big for me, as is most of the suit from the waist up. I'm a little bummed because their sizing chart says this is for a 40" waist(!) and I have a 34. The neck is annoying because it won't seal well for wind or rain. The other thing is if I have the rear vent open and one of the pit-zips to cool off a little, I sometimes get a sail effect between the neck, pit, and rear and it's pretty annoying, especially with wind buffeting. Sometimes it's enough to knock me a foot or so to the side in my lane! The ellipse seems to have been added below the velcro waist adjusters, which gives me a 'junk in the trunk' look on or off the bike. I'm not as worked up about this because it's not a huge performance issue on the bike, just aesthetic.
Since I have a bit of baggyness around the waist, I ride with the waist velcro adjusters all the way tight, which takes up the extra slack but isn't as comfortable because it's all bunched up on my sides.
So, my question to you are these:
How tight is your roadcrafter neck?
Do you get billowing and buffeting with vents open?
Any baggyness in the butt-region?
Thoughts?
I want a little more information before I contact Aerostich. I'm mostly bummed because I originally chose them and to ride there because I'm tall and hard to fit and that didn't really work out. I've just been living with it, which is probably not the best thing to do.
Thanks
