I bought my ST last year and as a gift to myself, upgraded my old crummy riding gear to a Roadcrafter 1-piece. Since I'm tall (6'6"), I rode to Duluth to test 'em out in person and talk with the folks there - custom altered suits are not returnable.

I've been happily riding since I got it last year, but the fit's just not right for me. I'm trying to determine how these suits fit others before I see if 'stich can alter mine.

I regularly wear a 34w x 36l pant and a 44 L jacket. I got a 46L suit with 2" extra below the knees and an ellipse to add some torso length. The decision to go with the 46 instead of the 44 was from the 'stich employee that helped me, and may be causing the problems I'm having now :( .

The legs fit fine lengthwise on and off the bike. No complaints there.

The neck is way too big for me, as is most of the suit from the waist up. I'm a little bummed because their sizing chart says this is for a 40" waist(!) and I have a 34. The neck is annoying because it won't seal well for wind or rain. The other thing is if I have the rear vent open and one of the pit-zips to cool off a little, I sometimes get a sail effect between the neck, pit, and rear and it's pretty annoying, especially with wind buffeting. Sometimes it's enough to knock me a foot or so to the side in my lane! The ellipse seems to have been added below the velcro waist adjusters, which gives me a 'junk in the trunk' look on or off the bike. I'm not as worked up about this because it's not a huge performance issue on the bike, just aesthetic.

Since I have a bit of baggyness around the waist, I ride with the waist velcro adjusters all the way tight, which takes up the extra slack but isn't as comfortable because it's all bunched up on my sides.

So, my question to you are these:
How tight is your roadcrafter neck?
Do you get billowing and buffeting with vents open?
Any baggyness in the butt-region?
Thoughts?

I want a little more information before I contact Aerostich. I'm mostly bummed because I originally chose them and to ride there because I'm tall and hard to fit and that didn't really work out. I've just been living with it, which is probably not the best thing to do.

Thanks
-Dan

My roadcrafter neck does not seal completely if I am wearing a t shirt . There is slack area in the butt area , can not say that there is bellowing with the vents open , that said I love my one piece Road crafter . It is ready to be replaced after about 16 years .

Hi: 1) loose, but not overly so. If you are wearing cold weather gear, you need the space (I wear a scarf or neck gater very often).
2) If I open ALL VENTS (including the back vent) I can get some billowing, but not enough to push me off line!
3) The butt has to be baggy if you are going to be comfortable riding...not to sexy standing, but essential for LD touring comfort.
NOTE: I wear a size 44 RC, and I have a size 42 Dinner Jacket (which I can wear under my Stich) and I wear size 33-34 jeans, but it all works. To stay warm in winter, and cool enough in summer, the sizing is just right. You can adjust the waist a bit, and if you have the cuffs open or closed, it makes a big difference how much the suit billows.

The reality is that what you feel is comfortable is the last word...I love my STich RC and wear it to work and on trips....from 35-95 degrees.

Call them, they are a great company and will help you get what you desire...

I have a 44L 2 piece and the neck is good, which means a little loose with my summer gear and a little snug with my winter gear with a high-neck shirt and my Gerbings jacket. I was advised by Aerostitch to keep it slightly loose because I ride in cold weather. Therefore I do experience some billowing on my back with the vents open. It is comfortable, just looks a little strange in pics of me going down the road at highway speeds taken by friends. Otherwise I wouldn't know the difference.
I have had it for 8 years now and have determined over that time that the advice I got from Aerostitch was on the money.

Dan, we should meet up for pie some day and you can try mine on. We are the same height but you are slimmer as you may recal from our meeting at Dave's last Sat. I'm just thinking trying another on could help with some questions, maybe not. But then the pie should negate the down side if there is one. :D
