Autocom and Schuberth Helmets

rikkitik

Greetings,

Has any done an install of an Autocom headset into a Schuberth Concept 2 helmet?

I've read instructions.....looked at the helmet.....and shook my head.

If anyone has done it and can assist it would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, that Schuberth Concept 2 is an awesome helmet. Thanks Santa for bringing it early.

Had mine done at a dealer. The installer said that he had a very hard time with it. Be careful in lining up the cutout for the ears, you are definitely going to need a second person to help with that. I have the Concept 1 helmet.

Schuberth -autocom speaker fittment

try this web site:http://www.autocom.co.uk/pdf/Schuberth_C2_Fitting.pdf
you can download the file with adobe reader. The only thing is Autocom fit the speaker in to the hole already made in the polystyrene. You will find that this is too high to enable you to position the speakers correctly. The position of the speaker centre has to be lined up to your ear canal for a good sound.
I had to gently cut away some of the foam with a very sharp knife to enable to lower the speaker position by at least 3/4 of an inch. Regards and good luck (watch your fingers with the sharp knife) Keith :)

Greetings,

An update and a warning for those who might be pondering an Autocom headset install in a Schubert Concept 2.

# 1 Let a professional do it! That's Schubert's recommendation (I discovered after the fact). I will be talking to Autocom about this one.....even their factory reps say the same thing, but you don't know that until it is too late.

# 2 While it can be done, it isn't an easy task and will require modifications to the helmet that will void your warranty if you screw it up. It certainly takes additional items to do it properly.

# 3 Schuberth USA does NOT sell replacement parts such as the earpads or neck roll even though the owner's manual says they do.

Here I sit with a $500.00 helmet in a quandry.....guess I'll take a break and ponder the situation.
