The probability of your existence in this universe was nearly zero...
So congratulations on beating the odds and having to work just to pay bills... :coffee:

G'Day...

-6°/-2°C, only a thin overcast, the skies showing a pinkish hue during sunrise...

home Nespresso boost to even function... ☕
office Nescafé to stabilize idle... ☕

despite the already passed winter solstice, still black air on the way to and from work... 🌃

yeah, work... yikes... o_O

thankfully still not much going on... me updating the computer and such...
everyone else is strangely quiet...

GF has a pre-reha examination scheduled today...
Good that she already works at the hospital the therapies will take place... just a short walk from her office...

Alright, start of a short first workweek...

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin. Too bad it had to come from the office.

It's 37°F (feels more like 32) and mostly clear in Rockville. A predicted high of 59 under sunny skies = goof day for yours truly.

After goof, I'll adjourn to a neighbor's house for a couple hours of conversation and scotch sampling.

Life is good.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks Martin and good morning all!

2C and freezing rain, ice pellets, splat rain/snow here. Nasty stuff to commute in. Worse stuff to walk in. Should have worn my add on ice cleats. Better yet, should have stayed home.

Suppose to stay the same weather wise all day, which should make for a fun commute home. Here's hoping the power stays on.

Enjoy your day,

Obo.

Thanks for the coffee Martin, even though this is too early to be up. The prospect of going to work doesn't add any joy to the hour, but I'll be meeting a couple of friends at a breakfast Cafe, which provides the incentive to be out of the bed.
First time I met them there, I ordered pancakes, and the fellas and waitress looked at me like I had six arms.
"Yeah," I said, "three pancakes."
They had to explain to me the pancakes there barely fit on a platter... each one is bigger than a hubcap.
In fact, the waitresses call the order back to the kitchen thusly: "Hubcap!"
Now I know.
So the required 3 cups of coffee before I can leave the house.
Foggy, spread thickly and liberally, low and high. The atmosphere doesn't seem to know what to do with temps in the 60s yesterday and 70s today, in early January.
But it's ok, because I know what to do.
Ride!
Right, then.
Gotta get to it.
All while watching out for the 50% of cars driven by idiots who never consider turning on their stinking headlights... and so they don't. They're nearly invisible in the dog, until they're within 25 feet of me.
Look out for idiots.
They might hurt you.

Thx Martin!
Just returned from walking an hour on roads as mentioned above.
Only two near death experiences.

Now back to nothing.
Well, cooking is more than nothing isn’t it?

-5˚c/23f ( twice as cold at night), almost calm, a touch of sun.

@Peppermint Beautiful painting yesterday, wish I had that kind of talent…but I can walk much faster than..

Have a good one, walk like a penguin!

... and now you know the rest of the story.
Good day!
(With apologies to Paul Harvey, one of the best storytellers ever to have lived. But he likely never had to click "Post reply.")

Mike Rowe (formerly host of "Dirty Jobs" and, before that, a baritone in a professional opera company) has a series of podcasts ("The Way I Heard It") inspired by Paul Harvey. They're very good.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the coffee, Martin.

Dense fog and cloud cover is making the sunrise struggle this morning. Currently 49, but headed to 61, with no wind. It’s looking like a great day for some RC flying. It’s been 15 years, so I hope I haven’t forgotten which way is up.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's cloudy/foggy and the temperature is 30, rising to 36.
We've also had freezing rain overnight, and the town trucks are out sanding the roads.
We're told to expect more freezing rain and snow until around noon.

Yesterday's haircut and gym trip went off without problems, then I came home and walked the neighbor's dog. We mostly took back roads, but did manage a mile or so of trails in part of the "Outback".
The First Tuesday event was lightly attended, but we managed. I saw the first of the snow and rain as I was driving home around 6:30.

Today, I'll try for another gym visit, and then whatever comes my way.
I was thinking of skiing, and then the rain/snow mix came along.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee in whatever form it takes, Martin.

Our yearly "January thaw" is now in progress so it's quite a bit milder than it has been, but there seems to be a stiff breeze blowing this morning. We're currently at -4°C/25°F with a feels-like of -11°C/12°F. The temperature will rise by a further degree or two, and the windchill will eventually reach the current actual temperature of -4°C/25°F. The sky is grey and overcast and there are flakes falling from the sky; the flurries are supposed to continue, off and on, for the next few hours.

Right, time to get at whatever it is I need to get at. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

0559 is when Princess #2's bladder woke me up, and I knew it would happen when she slurped down a whole bowl of water before coming upstairs to bed last night *grumble*. So, I crawled back into bed for a bad idea of a few extra zzzs even though I knew I should have gotten up to get ready.

But nope. 7am buzzed and I was now late. Again. Ugh, after 2 weeks off I'm not acclimated to my work schedule anymore. Jump up and cleaned up, fed herd, made my brekkie and lunch and gulped down whatever coffee was handy, thanks Martin! And traffic is horrendous...happy new year. 😒 At least work is light for the time being. *knocks on head*

Tree is stowed and play rehearsals are going well for my show. Need to get working on tech stuff and acquiriing a door for the set. Those are the big tickets. Gotta run, take care y'all!

Morning Martin & All from mixed clouds and Sun, in Southern Utah!

Currently @9:30am, it is 29F, up from 25F and heading for 44F. No breeze yet, but later we should have the winds from the WSW @ 10 to 12mph. By the evening, we might start getting the next storm...we'll see! :well1:

John, good luck with the flying. That's the type of flying I would want to do. Feet on the ground and the plane in the air. ;)

Never made it to get a hair cut, yesterday. Their Website Appointment wasn't working and I didn't feel like driving over only to find 4 or 5 people waiting. Maybe today. I pulled in all the Christmas boxes and then took the :dr13: riding around the neighborhood. First ride of the year. :) Once Chris came back from her friend's house, I help her take down the Christmas stuff. So, that's DONE! :run1:

She'll be up soon and we'll have some breakfast. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Morning all! Grey and wet out there with thick dark clouds. Feeling very Return of the Kingish at the Gates of Mordor. 5C now, 6C later.

Got to work and couldn't find my usb-c to hdmi adapter for the second monitor so nipped out and picked one up at the local computer store. Got back to the office and you'll never guess what I found at the bottom of my briefcase....yep, the ADHD tax exacts a heavy toll my friends....it all comes back to me now, I had packed it away in my briefcase Sunday night to make sure I didn't forget it, patted myself on the back for how pleased today me would be with past me and promptly forgot I had done it. Good thing breathing is an autonomic function....

Thanks Stu, I now have "Walk like a Penguin" to the tune of "Walk like an Egyptian" running through my head.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

This just in:

It was a beautiful day to be outdoors doing most anything that can be done in mild temperatures. Not so good for building igloos or snowmen. Snow persons? Snow-beings? Whatever, today wasn't the sort of day for that.

It is my best round of goof, to date, this year.
It is my best-ever score at that particular course.
It is tied for my third-best score, ever, anywhere.

Nice to get the year off to a good start in the goof department.

myself confronted with a bunch of advertisement 'push messages'...

Exactly why I abandoned my Yahoo account, and deny most apps any notification permissions.

Grey and wet out there with thick dark clouds. Feeling very Return of the Kingish at the Gates of Mordor.

My plot summary of The Two Towers and first half of The Return of the King:

It was gray, and Frodo was tired, and Sam was tired, and they couldn't go on, but they had to go on, and it was gray, and Frodo was tired, and Sam was tired, and they couldn't go on but they had to go on, and it was gray and-

You get the idea.
