Bar weights stick out too much

I'm curious, are the bar end mounts adjustable in any way to be further into the grip? I just installed a G2 throttle tube and new grips, and especially on the left side bar the end weigh sticks out a lot. I didn't notice with the stock grips (might have been aftermarket hard to tell) as they covered that gap up.

Can the mounting points be loosened and shoved about 10mm inside the tubes? I should've checked before I reinstalled everything, but if it can't be done I'd rather not take the grip off just to find that out.
 
You shouldn't have to remove the grip...if you loosen the screw on the bar end weight and remove it, you should see the wedge part inside and if it can be moved.
 
Actually your not understanding how the bar end weight works with the handlebar,
First off, Are the replacement grips shorter than the stock grips? It may not be a bar weight issue at all, but rather you put short grips on the bike.
As far as the bar end weight goes, it cannot be moved either in nor out of the handlebar because the enThtire assembly is trapped in place by a small tooth that sticks into a hole in the handlebars.
If you look at a diagram or parts list, you'll see several pieces that fit together, and the bar end weight is slid into the bar, and the tooth pops up into the hole, and it cannot be adjusted from this fit.
The inside end of the bar weight has a half moon shape that mates with the half moon shape on the inside assembly.
If a person does not hold the weight while they tighten the bolt, they will damage or strip the two surfaces and the weight will always spin. The bolt is secured using Red locktite (our blue version).
 
I'll have to check the grip lengths. I believe they're the same but I don't know that for sure.

Good to know it's not adjustable. I see the dogs on both the weight and mounting point, although I found it a little odd that it could still spin in the bar, hence why I was wondering if it could move in a bit. I'm also not sure how close to the switch clamshell the grip should be on the left side, so it light be normal. I pushed the grip pretty close to the housing and when I put the weight on a lot was sticking out so I adjusted to make it look good. The throttle side looked OK, there was a decent chunk of the throttle tube sticking out to take up the bar weight unlike the left side.

Good to know. I don't like the look so I may end up getting longer grips (if I can find them), but for now everything is working so that might be a winter problem.
 
Just made it out to the garage to check the grip lengths, the new ones are indeed a bit shorter. I got them from G2 with the throttle tube, so I'll try looking at different options that are the correct length.

I'll check those out. I do like the current grips (Domino brand) just wish they were longer. I'm assuming you're referencing OEM BMW grips and not aftermarket?
