For those looking for a tent, Academy Sports and Outdoor has a 7'x7' and 50" tall, screen front and rear, 2 person tent in a 26"5"x6" case, weighs 7 pounds. At $19.97, it is a throw-away price. I bought one yesterday and set it up in the living room for practice. I was surprised with the quality and features. Plan to use it on my 10 day or so trip to BearSTOC. Now all I have to do is to figure how to tie down my clothes bag, sleeping bag and tent.

Camping Gear

I have found the best approach to carrying camp gear is to put it all in a single pack and attach it over the passenger seat using the grip handles to tie down. This will leave your hard bags to support your personnal gear.
That truly depends on how your camping gear condenses and stows. I use a compressable sleeping bag good to 30 deg. and most tents now do not take up much space. The cooking gear is the hardest to deal with. My gear has supported me for up to 15 days camping in a different state or national park each day.
If your interested in seeing how the setup is organized - go to:

You will need to "refresh" your page if you get an error going to the bikepics page. I sometimes get an error from their server - a refresh clears it up.
There are a couple views of how I pack my 02' ST1100. The yellow bag fits all my camping gear, but I had to make that myself. There are a couple of waterproof packs of similar design from some of the top outfitters.

Have a good trip !!
