When I disconnected my battery last winter to store in a heated space with the trickle charger , upon reconnecting it at the beginning of riding season the mileage reading was 21,000 kms instead of the true 32,000 I had recorded when it went into hibernation. Is this a rare occurance ?

Strange! are you sure it didnt flop over to miles as 21k miles and 32k kms are close. Other than that, when you recorded the kms was your pen frozen, or you had swigged back some internal antifreeze? Either way saving 11000 says the value of your ride just increased. No, never heard of that happening or read about that anywhere.

Just checked yes it did flip to miles , I thought being Canadian point of sale would only be kms. Owners manual shows changing fuel consumption display using fcd/h button but no explanation on changing kms/ miles setting on total distance driven any ideas, much thanks

Nice catch! Never using kms I would have been having serious WTW! moments.

I know about the imperial to metric change but not the miles on the odometer. I didn't know we could do that either. Maybe someone on here can tell us why and how.

Page 29 of the owner's manual:

The odometer/tripmeter/available driving distance displays in either ‘‘mile’’ or ‘‘km’’.
When the fuel consumption meter is no display, press and hold the FCD/H button for more than 2 seconds to change the unit ‘‘mile’’ or ‘‘km’’.

Works great. The only things it looks like it doesn't change is to display mpg instead of km/l and the temp stays in Celsius an doesn't change to F. Maybe that's the Canadian part of our bikes.
