I am buying an ST1300 that has a set of new Battlax T30 tires on it. They are not the EVO GT's. Personally, I can't understand the seller didn't put the GT's on it when they are really for 550 lb plus bikes like the ST1300.

I would like to hear from those who have the plain vanilla T30's on your STs how they perform and wear.

My dilemma is that my current ST1300 has a set of Michelin PR4 GTs on it with only 1500 miles on them. I love the PR4's and feel really safe with my loading.

I am wondering I should wait to sell my current bike until I pickup the new ST in a week and swap tires. Or just deal with the standard T30's until they wear out.

Odd. Before the EVO came out, there was the T30 and the T30GT - the GT being the one to use for the heavier bikes and recommended for the ST1300 by bridgestone.

I feel sure that when the Evo version came out, they referred to it as the T30 GT Evo

Now, looking on their site, they say that the T30 does not fit the ST1300 and that the T30 EVO is the recommended tyre for the ST1300. There is no indication anywhere on their site that the GT suffix still exists.

There must have been a rationalisation of names and types.

I was going to order T30 GT Evos for my next set of tyres next month. I'll contact Bridgestone and find out.

[Edit] - Ok sent message to Bridgestone. I've also asked how a buyer can distinguish between the currently listed T30 EVO which is recommended for the ST1300, and the older tyre designated as T30 Evo, which was not listed as a recommended tyre for the ST1300. [/Edit]

I have a brand new set of T30 Evo GTs setting in the basement waiting to go on the bike. I'm trying to remember, but I believe that you are looking for the T30-F Evo which is the GT tire.

Another interesting point too is that the GT is not recommended for the ST11.
I've just fitted two T30 Evo's to my ST1100W and they feel very nice, but time will tell.
I think the new Avon ST may also come in Pan Euro sizes.
FWIW.
Upt'North.

I ran a set of T30s on myNT 700 which is lighter and less Hp and they did fine. My son ran the T30EVOs on his Concours 14 (more like the ST1300) and they did OK too. Both of us thought they were a good value, but not the best tire.

All I can tell you is that the T30s are about the stiffest tire I have ever mounted. I think that stiffness led to the harsh ride quality I thought they had. Just not as supple as the PR4s for instance.

I've stuck to Bridgestone 90% of the time. (Except for a stint w/a Dunlop RS2), and me thinks Bridgestone may be 'playing' a game with tire designations. I got over 8500 miles on two rear T30GT's. But, this new T30F Evo is almost gone at 6300 miles. Mmmm.....geeez! Going back to a regular T30GT. I'd like to TRY a PR4...but, whoa ....at around $180+; too rich for my blood. Avon? Pirelli? Continental ? Dunno.......

The seller sent me some pics of the tires and it has a designation on it of T30FAZ. I couldn't find any reference to FAZ on the Bridgestone site. And there is not EVO GT anywhere on the tire. Anyone know what FAZ means?

My T30 EVO GT spec front tire has T30FAZ in small letters. In slightly smaller letters 90 degrees away it has EVO GT on it. These are in much smaller lettering than Battleax Sport Touring T30F.

On the Bridgestone US web site the T30 is not available in ST1300 sizes any longer (the T30 came in regular and GT) and the T30 EVO in 1300 sizes only comes in GT spec.

I think the seller is overlooking that the tire is an EVO GT.

The rear T30R EVO GT has GT in larger more conspicuous letters than the front tire.

Here are the three pics that the owner sent to me of the front tire. I believe that these may have been made in 2012 because of one of the designations.

I just pulled off my front T30F (evo GT) on my ST1300 after 12,403 miles. Probably could have gotten 1000 more but seeing how rain and cooler temps with fall weather are here I did not want to push my luck.

both tires have the same load rating 783 lbs, the GT tire has a rayon ply on the side wall. Both tires work just fine.:beatdeadhorse:
