Bike Cover Question

I need opinions on what bike cover for the ST1300 provides for complete waterproof protection, but stores into the smallest package for traveling.

Where did you purchase the cover you may mention?

I have found the the "waterproof" covers are quite bulky. I have used my dust cover which came with my heavy waterproof cover as a traveling rain cover. Its like your tent material. Keeps things dry unless you touch it or having something touch it and thats where the water comes through. So basically my seat is dry.

The site says its "water resistant". I wouldn't use it for permanent outdoor storage, but for overnight stays its fine. My bike has stayed dry under it.

Sounds like you are looking for sizes now. I always go with the Full Dresser size.

Eric I have the same cover as Hojo70 (it's an XL) It rolls up in it's carry bag to size of about 6x8x12 and is crushable so it packs pretty small. overnight water resistant but not water proof. Cheers Marty

Originally had a Large, then went to XL when I added the trunk.

Only been dumped on by rain once, and it did a fine job of keeping the bike dry. It's listed as water repellent, not water proof. Don't touch it, thump it, wiggle it, etc., and your bike will stay dry. Don't ask me how I know.

Packs into a small stuff bag - about 12" x 4".

Here are some shots of the EZ Tour cover. This is the traveller half cover. It is a waterproof cover made from treated parachute material. I put this cover on right after shutting off the bike, the heat from the cylinder heads does not affect it.

+1 on TourKing covers. Cheap, packs very small and waterproof even though they say it is only water repellent.

I use a cover, but it is more for theft / racoon scratch prevention than to "protect" the bike from getting wet. Rain water on the motorcycle doesn't bother me at all. Just wipe the seat and ride off! I use a sheepskin pad that I take inside with me overnight, so damp seats are a non-issue.

I did get annoyed by racoon paw prints on the bike, so I started to use a cheap cover.

A had a "dust-cover" last year that I bought at Cycle Gear for cheap and it lasted for about 6-month in California-weather. Basically it was a cheap POS but it did the required job. I have got now a "Guardian Weatherall Plus Cover" and very happy with it (putting it on and taking it off with a top box is a major pain though). I expect the "Guardian" to last 3-4 years which is a big thing around the ocean.
