I have a pair of Goretex Oxtars that aren't so old, maybe 5000 miles in them, and you can see in the pic that the welt is pulling away from the foot along the reinforced area. The gap goes all the way down to the sole, and water is getting in there.
Now you might say "Hey, that's normal, the wear and tear from the shifter is gonna do that." But you see, my left boot is fine. This is a pic of my right boot.
I can take it to a shoe repair place who'll charge me $50 to strip off the entire sole and re-glue it. But I'm hoping that maybe someone here knows exactly the right product that will fix this. Barge cement obviously won't since there's no leather involved. Glues that get too hard won't work since the boot has got to flex. Shoo-Goo won't last long because it's almost impossible to get down in the crack to clean and prep the area. Since it's rubber on rubber, I was actually thinking about using a tire repair glue.
I'm not really looking for helpful suggestions like why don't you try this, or maybe such-and-such will help. What I'm really looking for is someone who has had this problem, fixed it permanently, and can tell me how.
Anybody got the solution?
