It was quickly apparent that getting the car tire off would be difficult. Push the bead in and it would pop right back into place.
I tried a block to hold the bead in then changed my technique.

Any other methods?

I just use some plastic wedges to hold the tire down in the drop zone and then remove the tire with no problems.

That looks like a pain in the rear end. :think1:

Frank, I have that little yellow thing that grips the rim. Might that help at all? C Clamps?

Your tire has seen better days.... :rofl1:

It appears you use a tire machine? I broke this one yesterday manually and then I work right on the floor (carpet) with hand tools. I hold the bead down with my knees when removing the old tire.

Very important to keep that bead down to the center. It took me less than 5 minutes to dismount that same BFG tire yesterday.

Got a pic of those wedges?

I used use 1x2 blocks to install for guiding the bead into the channel. Thought I’d do the same idea to uninstall but couldn’t hold the bead breaker down enough to get my blocks in. I think if I supported the rim better holding tire away from the changer, base I would have had a better shot.

The new tire is a Pirelli P7. This was way harder to install than the Goodrich. Two more people would make it easier but I improvised.
I had blocks and levers every which way when it all popped all over the floor but I got it done on the next try. Took it off the changer and heard a block of wood bouncing around inside. Dang.

No problem, relax in the hot tub.

This morning I found a shop that uninstalled one bead and handed me the wood.
It took the professional garage tire machine, two people, two attempts and 20 minutes to get that bead out.

They wouldn’t reinstall for liability reasons and said no charge, I just wanted to help you out of that headache.
