Thread title pretty much says it all. I specifically interested in Florida.

Thanks

If they do for normal trailers, I believe it will require one. In Texas I did need one and had to pay registration and get a huge auto lic plate for it.

Washington state requires registration on any trailer regardless of size. Oregon only does above a certain length.

In Missouri all vehgicles using the public roadway do, unless rural farm.

In Florida:
Florida law requires most vehicles to be titled and registered. The exceptions to titling are mopeds, motorized bicycles, and trailers weighing less than 2,000 pounds.

Every state publishes all their laws (or state code, or statutes, etc) that anyone can read.
For Florida the link is: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/

Somewhere in there are all the laws regarding motor vehicles including motorcycles and trailers as well as your local transportation regulations. It just takes time to search the right terms.
I use a similar link to the official Iowa State Code often enough when I want to know the real scoop on any legal stuff for riding.

The actual statute for this question is found at Title XXIII, Chapter 319 here:

A friend of mine was so undone by the aesthetics of the super-size license plate ("tag" here in Georgia) that he had a motorcycle sized miniature made of it and mounted that with the annual sticker on it. No LEO has ever stopped him over it, but if they do he has the full size plate in the bottom of the trailer.

Yup... I've seen some just put inside the trailer and give some excuse that is fell off if ever stopped and some that have taken a picture of them and printed a smaller one glued to cardboard ... lol

Here in Florida we get the option of either a full size or motorcycle size tag for (I think) any size trailer. I have a MC size tag on my 12ft utility trailer. I don't know if it applies to heavy weight trailers.

Say it isn’t so Chuck.
I have inquired about one, but haven't heard back yet.

We would like to start doing some mountain trips and there isn't enough room for two if we carry any camping gear. And you know I can never get out alone.

In Iowa if the trailer is a "camper" or RV class then a full sized plate is issued. But if a cargo trailer of a certain size/weight we get the smaller plate. When I got the plate for my Mini-Mate camper I got away with telling them it was a cargo trailer and got the small plate for it. Since the camper already had holes located for the bigger plate I bolted on an aluminum bar in those holes and mounted the plate in new holes in the bar.

No title on small trailers in Florida..
I sold my car trailer 2 years ago, as the guy was driving down to pick it up, i couldn't find the title..
Went to the dmv next morning and found out there was no title for it. I think it was under 1300 pounds .

I got the Unigo. It was the original owner and there is no title. Just an MSO and registration.

I'm from Michigan, The Secretary of State here decided that since the trailer is Locked onto the motorcycle that the license plate from the motorcycle can be moved to the bike when in use. The same ruling applied to Wisconsin, where my bike and trailer was purchased from.
