Boots Does anyone use Bates boots?

I have looked at the Bates combat style 8" boots with side zipper. Does anyone know if they are waterproof and does the zipper mark the bike frame?

I'm using Bates side zip duty boots. I think that they're 10" rather than 8". They are GoreTex lined, and are waterproof. I haven't had any problems with the zippers marring the bike.

I have the Bates lace-ups, definitely not water proof. They were bought for warmer weather and are pretty comfy.

The side zip boots have gusseted construction, so there's a water-tight bootie inside. You have to get the Gore-Tex model, though.

I have a pair of Bates GoreTex boots and they are water proof and more importantly comfortable for the whole day. When I rode to the west coast this summer I was on the road for a month with the boots and a pair of flip-flops as my only foot wear. I never felt that I needed any other shoes as they look good with jeans and the flip-flops worked with the shorts.

Just picked up a pair of the Gore-Tex Bates boots with side zipper. They are very comfortable out of the box and I think they will work well. Really like the side zip feature.
