So a friend of mine just picked one up. Killer deal. $9500 with only 450 miles on the odo. It is a 2004. Sold for $25K when new. Now THAT'S depreciation!

While certainly lovely to look at it (sort of), I don't want to own one. Try it once, yes, but that's about it. But you can't argue that the deal is not very good.

Love to have one but I'm a little bit of a speed junky and would probably kill myself on one. Must stay away from those things but it is tempting.

The owner is a very experienced rider but he cannot test the limits even remotely. I suggested a track day or two but I am not sure he will. That is the ONLY place to push a bike like this.

I rode one in 2005. Scared the *&^%$ out of me. I kept losing the rear end coming out of the corners and then I realized it was not the tire but my right hand. I had fun after that but I too could never own one.

That is a heck of a deal.

My best friend was into Ducatis for a long time.

He owned a '91 900SS, an 851 and an 888.

The nice thing was I got a chance to ride each one. The other nice thing was I didn't have to worry about the endless pain my wrists would have to endure by owning a motorcycle with such an agressive riding position.

A Duc is a symphony of sound. You definitely know you're riding a motorcycle and not the world's fastest sewing machine.

If I had a lot of money, I would probably own a Ducati GT1000 Sport Classic. I love the old school looks of it.

But on a limited budget, I don't see having one in the stable any time soon.

My son had an 04 999 non-s. Most fun you can have in 20 minutes - zoom zoom, but thats all I could take. Don't get stuck in traffic with one either. Hot - in more ways than one!

IMHO, no matter how old you are, it's great to have a nice piece of high-tech / high performance equipment between your legs. Even if it's only for a short period once in a while.
I don't ride my 900ss much different than the ST, as far as hurting myself, it's not an issue with me, and I can easily go 200 - 300 miles before I get uncomfortable. I don't know how much longer those distances will inspire me to ride the Duc, I guess that is my gauge for getting old and cutting down on my riding (not gonna happen for a while !!).

dang those are beautiful for sure, and an awesome deal too. 450 miles in 7 years? wow, that's just as amazing too! Must have been like a trophy sitting in the living room :)
