I've just learned of the passing of Ed Matlock on March 4. Ed was a long time member here. All his posts seem to have been lost to the ether so newer members who never met him will know nothing of him. That's a shame. There are few details yet of his passing but it appears to be at the end of a long suffering illness. Ed was 79.
I knew Ed through a Mac Users Group. A nice guy and he made me laugh – a lot. I didn't know he rode and specifically an ST1300 until I joined ST-O a few years later. I saw his name and "Funny thing — there's a guy named Ed Matlock..."
His daughter Erin posted on Facebook:
"It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news my father Ed passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
There is a tentative date of Saturday 3/21 for his services.
Please feel free to share any photos you may have of my father. This would be helpful as we create a slideshow. I will leave my email matl9097@gmail.com for anyone to contact me, send pictures or please email me and I’ll send my cell phone number. Thank you!"
Rest in Peace, my friend.
