i just bought a 2003 st 1300 miles 22,312. last week. after riding a hour or so the FI light comes on .its done this four times so far. when i lower the side stand in neutral ,it flashes a code 26.when im cruising at 60 mph at 3450 rpm's is when it comes on.
google says right side knock sensor. anyone ran into this or have any input on this? any info would be appreciated. source for manuals, websites for diagnostics, etc.. thanks. newbie Johnny Fever.

There was another thread with this problem this past week. The 26 code usually means your ECU has gone south. You can try swapping the knock sensors side to side to see if it makes a difference. The fix is to buy a used ECU on ebay - police bikes - ST1300PA - ecu's are cheaper. Tho if some motorcycle recycle yard guy comes onto this forum that might not be for very long.

You can do a search in the search box for 'code 26' for other threads.

Alternatively, you can read this thread. I'd suggest you do a search to become familiar with how it works. The more you use it, the better you will become at choosing the right key words....

It has been reported on this forum that the manual has codes 25 and 26 backwards. 26 is actually the left one. I don't know if this has been corrected in the manual and if so, in which printing.

You most likely have a defective ECM. This is becoming more common with pre 2008 models as they age. There is currently no repair available but someone is looking at attempting to develop a repair. See this thread for information- ST1300 Code25/26 Knock Sensor Development

You can swap the knock sensors side to side to see whether or not the code changes from 26 to 25. If it does not, a defective knock sensor is not the problem.
Inspect the connectors and wiring from the knock sensors all the way back to the ECM. You are looking for any obvious defects such melting/heat damage, broken connectors/wires, open circuits, short circuits, etc.. If everything checks out and you do not find anything amiss, unfortunately you will most likely need to replace the ECM.
