I currently use an Arai Quantum II full face helmet. Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to prevent fogging up short of leaving the face shield up part way. I ride in Seattle and the weather up here is always sunny. Yeah right!!! I was riding today and it all of the sudden starting to rain like a bovine type animal urinating on a flat rock. Any suggestions would be helpful!

I know there is an anti-fog liquid made for motorcycle visors and dive masks.
Check the shops in the area.

I'm in Tacoma. I've tried Pinlocks and a variety of treatments. Nothing works. Not around here anyway. Not on either of my Arai's or my other two helmets. I just ride with the visor cracked. The folks at webbikeworld are always on the lookout for something that works. Here is a link to their latest review, and from that review there are links to other products they've reviewed.

Try Ivory liquid on the inside surface, this is what we use for dive masks. Apply a couple of drops and buff it out. I also found the little bottles of silicone lube you get with your Aria work also - a couple of drops and buff it out.

I use the Foggy Respro it's the only thing I found that works I have an Quantum 2 and RX-7 It's a neopreme mask that seals above your nose and cheek and directs your breath down and away from your sheild I have aslo tried Fog City inserts but still fogs some but big problem with reflection of lights at night, Ride West BMW on Lake City Wy has them for about $20

Air vents leak through even when closed- taping these completely shut in spring and fall will usually help.

I bought PinLocs based on DDuelin's example and haven't had any fog since. Just completed 6,000+ miles across US, elevations from below sea level to 8,000+ feet, all kinds of weather and humidity, temps from single digits and up, several rainy days AND no fog what-so-ever!

(PS. Thanks Dave!)

Hey Midlifest1100, I'm in the same battle. I commute every day and I have an Arai helmet. I've used a couple of liquid solutions to keep from fogging up, but they have to be applied with each use, so it's yet another thing to do before you can actually ride. So I wouldn't bother with any of the sprays or gels or liquid drops unless you don't mind smearing it around and wiping the shield every day.

Pinlocs or inserts are the way to go IMHO. A bit more expensive, but much more effective.

+ 1 for Foggy Respro I used almost everything on the market and found that the Foggy Respro took care of 95% of the fogging I get a little fogging at a stop and one I get going with the shield vent on it clears up quick.

Had an Arai Quantum for 5 years & always used a Fog City insert, never had a problem with misting up & that's in a damp and chilly part of the UK!!!
Also, if you get the photochromic version you don't need sunglasses (but then we don't any most of the time over here :D )
Cheers
Ian
