G'Day...

3°/7°C, gray overcast in the morning, but we now actually have the sun peeking through... daylight, nice...

home and office caffeinated... I'm set in my ways... ☕

weekend... 😁
as it has warmed up I might use the chance to clean my car windows in the afternoon...
hard to do this to a perfect outcome when its dark and freezing...
and yoh, the trusty Toyota has turned 30... it first hit the road February '96...

back to the monotone task of updating product prices... :cautious:

have a nice w/e!

Looks like it's gonna be a good day to be off on the wet coast; a bit of cloud maybe no rain and high of 13 so 55 or better, see if I can do a last run on the dreaded of all meteorlogical phenomena - the dual sequentially carbed dual exhaust only true four valve hemi thumper... kick start, decompression chamber, starts with a dead battery, yeah, you know what I'm talking about! Try to wash some gas through that second carb and drain the bowls and that might be it for that one for a while.
Took the day off to convalesce over being [literally] screwed out of thousands yesterday; but hey, it's only money, and what's a bit of pain; almost as much fun as a root canal on a front tooth... with no freezing... but who would say yeah, sure go ahead to anything like that? I thought AMRE was overpriced for hardware; the latest are the no 10 32 self drilling ones; separated by the eye tooth from the no 8 24s previously installed along the side. Got a broken root out and some extra bone grafted in as well.
My dentist said he was very pleased with the outcome :redface-2x: [cha-ching]

Good morning all and thanks again for the liquid caffinated gold Martin!

7F under a cloudy sky this morning, heading towards a high of 23F. The weather, as usual, seems unpredictable. Yesterday it was said to be a few flurries for today and the weekend, accumulating maybe an inch. This morning it has been adjusted to show 1-3 inches this afternoon/evening and another 1-3 inches tomorrow morning. I think I'll just wait until Sunday to count it up!!

A quick grocery run this morning will lead into some cooking and cleaning this afternoon. It should be absolutely wild.

Be safe, be careful and watch out for frostbite!

Scott

Well g'mornin' from SoMD Florida! It is an unusual 45F/7C here...due in part to the weather and part from the MIL. Yes, the criticism started as soon as we walked through the door, but let's try to keep it upbeat for the coffee's sake. It has feelings too! Thanks for the wake-me-up, Martin!

To file into the category of "No good deed goes unpunished", the MIL's house has never had heat according to her Harvard-educated, PhD sons. Can't say how long she's lived here, eight years? More? We arrive and the smart thermostat is set to cool and 50F! I try to override the program but any button touch to change the programming kicks it back to 50...I'm getting HAL9000 vibes. The heat/cool/off selector button doesn't even work, no response.

So, me being just a B.S. shoveling helluva engineer, I take it apart and find corrosion under that buttons contacts. Clean the contacts, put it together, push the button, it works! Set it to heat and BAM it kicks on and starts emitting that burning smell that you get when it's been dormant for a season. BUT the neurotic MIL says she thinks the house is going to burn down and won't sleep with it on. That I don't know what I'm doing because "you're not a professional". So, yep, I turn it back off and walked away into my bedroom for the night.

And we're here until Sunday... G-d help me.

The more I can find around here to fix and less interaction with her the better, please keep the coffee coming! We are going to her audiologist today to replace what I believe is a failed charging dock for her hearing aids after only a few months. The dock is like for airpods with its own battery, but it doesn''t show any charge despite being plugged in. So, we get to do that for her too. Then some light bulbs to be changed. Noisy garage door. Some grocery shopping and cooking. Other honey-dos she' ll think of. Then I can leave. I love her, I keep reminding myself. Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode. Take care y'all! 1000022937.jpg

No snow here, 34 going to 63... "they" say. Lots of sun.
Tomorrow will be the Chili Cookoff, rescheduled from 2 weeks ago and the non-Snowmageddon event here in Birmingham. The chili fest is in Tuscaloosa, about 45 minutes southwest of me. High tomorrow of 48 or so... it's do-able.
At work we're closing in on finishing migrating our 1500-plus help doc migration to another platform, and hopefully we'll be able to report success early next week.
Other than that, ...it's Friday. I'm thankful.
Yesterday we were getting geared up to ride to work, Kaiser hopped in the trailer, and somehow the trailer lid closed and latched. I don't recall if I closed it or if it just fell down. But I couldn't UNlock the release with the key. Took me no time to realize that was a problem, because if I went to work I wouldn't be able to get him out.
I called Todd Mozingo, who still supplies parts and service for the sadly-now-closed Bushtec trailer manufacturer, and amazingly he answered on the second ring. Long story short, a combination of locally warming the keyhole with a lighter along with WD40, I was finally able to insert the key and unlock it.
Been meaning to order the more convenient push-button latch release, and simply haven't ...but it's ordered now.
Brief moments of veritable panic, being unable to open the lid.
It's all sorted now, and should be improved soon.
So yeah... Other than that, ...it's Friday. I'm thankful.
Have a good weekend, if you're able.
If you're not able, might I suggest some heavy drinking.

So sorry for your situation, JD.
While many families are to some degree dysfunctional, those which are plainly toxic are another whole bag of beans.
Just recognize it's not permanent, and love your wife, and understand you're racking up huge bonus points with the one you really care for. If it helps, you can tell yourself you're doing it for HER.
Props to you for doing the right thing in unpleasant circumstances, in spite of the abuse.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the start-of-weekend coffee, Martin.

@Sadlsor was Kaiser in the trailer when the lid closed? How did he react to being trapped, and later to being freed?

It's cloudy and 13°F in Rockville, going toward 30. The cloudy part means we may get a fresh drop of s**w sometime this afternoon. We sure need it- nearly all of what we got 12 days ago is still here, although the city, county, and state removal teams have finally got most of the blockages on the secondary arterials cleared.

They were at it yesterday afternoon but at least one blockage remained when I came home from uke group around 1600 hours. There was, as of Wednesday evening at least, also still an inexcusable mess left in the area in front of the pedestrian entrance to our local Metro station- 4 to 5 inches of snow, slush, and ice, slicker than owl snot at the point of contact with the underlying tile and a real danger to walk on.

How do I hate winter? Let me count the ways.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

He was in the trailer, head through the pet lid opening... he wasn't disturbed at all, looking around, likely just wondering "What ya waiting for? Why are we still sitting here? Let's GO!"
I was really worried that I might have to drill out the lock and tumblers, causing much damage. Think of a car trunk that won't open or release. Whatcha gonna do?
The key wouldn't even go into the keyhole, likely frozen water, though it hadn't rained.
Took about 15 minutes to get it sorted.
He's calm back there, and trailers well. He loves to ride.
On the roads and at stops, he gets all the attention.

I'd forgotten that there was an opening for him. If I'd thought about it for a moment that would have been obvious, I suppose, as there's no way you'd have an animal in a fully enclosed trailer, nor would you head down the highway with the lid wide open.

Good morning . We have a lot of snow coming down and it is pretty but seems to be pretty fluffy . just returned from Aruba where we needed to worry about sand storms and getting in our drinks . Morning Martin & All, from mostly sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 42F, up from 26F and heading for 58F. I can see some clouds from the south, they might be heading our way. I just noticed they are saying possible rain today... Now that's funny! We have a slight breeze now, but later, the winds will be out of the SSW @ 13 to 15mph.

The Weather Guessers are calling for "possible" rain by Tuesday. We'll see... :well1: Seems their predictions change every hour.

Yesterday, after hitting the carwash and Walmart, I came home and took it easy. In the late afternoon, I took the :bl13: out around the neighborhood for a 11 mile run.

With this warm weather, at least I can get out a do a little more in the back yard.

As soon as Chris is up, we'll get something to eat. Pepsi(s) will be on the menu for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Morning all (at least still here)! Overcast but the sun is doing its best to get through with some success. It's currently 5C with a predicted high of 10C. The rain returns this evening and the weekend is going to be wet, at least Saturday will be. Went for a swim in town this morning and it was foggy as heck.

Working from home today; the dog has projectile diarrhea. Vet appointment schedule for noon. Let the crappy puns begin....

Hope everyone has a great day!
