Fuel breather

I'm wondering if this small hole on the left side of the fuel fill is the breather for the lower tank.
I don’t believe the lower tank has a breather. It has a fuel feed hose and a fuel return hose. The small hole up top IIRC is an overflow drain tube for the upper tank.

What I see in the picture is about to turn you fuel tank into a large, un-openable paper weight!
That metal bar, (fuel level) appears to be bent upward, from somebody stuffing the fuel pump underneath it, what is going to happen is it will catch the lock latch on the cap, permanently locking your fuel tank, with no way to remove or open the cap again.
I would GENTLY use a piece of wood (non sparking) or plastic and bend it back level again.
This is the reason I instruct all ST riders to only put fuel in from the left side of the bike.

I'm pretty sure that small hole leads to the bottom of the bike. If water land in there , the water can escape out the bottom . Water is bad for your gas

Back to my original question about a breather for the lower tank. When I fill my tank with it on the last bar flashing I can typically put about 5.5 gallons in it. This is why I asked if the hole by the fill is the breather for the lower tank.

Here's a picture I grabbed off eBay. What are the three nipples I numbers for? In a previous thread I was told there is a breather that is plugged keeping me from filling the tank all the way.

The hole that you are asking about is both a fuel overflow drain as well as a drain for water that might accumulate around the filler neck.

As for the what fuel tank nipple is for what- see below.

1- Vent tube to allow air to escape the lower fuel tank during fill-up.
2- Breather tube connected to the charcoal canister.
3- Drain tube to evacuate fuel spills or water from around the upper fuel tank filler neck.
4- The large hose that connects the upper fuel tank to the lower fuel tank.
A- Electrical harness for the fuel level sensors.

Here's a picture straight above the fill. The hole I was asking about is at about 10 o'clock. The bar on the left is mounted solid. 1000006486.jpg
Yes.. water drain.put a little bit of water in and it should run out behind the shifter. I bought my 07 new with 0.00 km and the hose was kicked. If your s does not run out Remove the seat, left luggage bag. Remove the side panel and you will see a hose see if it's kinked
