Slowly working on a 91 purchased late last year. A runner, but in need of TLC even though PO spent a fair amount on big things. Working thru the carbs etc w/ lots of help from this forum. Did plugs, carb balance etc. Just got to the fuel filter - what a difference. Aparently causing a lean condition across the board? Smoother idle, easier starting, better power... suprisingly big improvement! :D

I have no idea the age or miles on the old one but I am going to cut it open just for fun. I ended up installing a Mr. Gasket brand automotive fuel filter as it was convenient. What do others use? Is there an automotive standard that works well?

I put an automotive filter on that fits the fuel line and it's about 1 and 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 inches long. Compared to the stock filter, it's huge. It can certainly handle the volume with no problem.
