Still trying to find a solution to my crapped out zumo 450. What I want:

1. Garmin
2. Lifetime map updates included
3. Bluetooth functionality
4. Ability to listen to mp3 either thru device itself or by pairing with smartphone
5. Waterproof/resistant either by design or by adding a box
6. Securely locking on bike

The Zumo 660LM fits the bill, but it is $650. The other zumo's are either in that price range with less functions or slightly less (the 220) with significant shortcomings (no mp3, no lifetime maps, and still $400).

The automotive Nuvi models I have questions about durability in the outdoor environment (moisture, UV, vibration). I can take care of the moisture and UV with a RAM mount Aquabox, but still question whether vibration would kill the device within a year or two. Also I give up the ability to use the screen effectively with gloves on most likely.

Has anyone used the Nuvi 2495? It seems to be the closest thing to checking all the boxes at a $180 price point (plus $50 for the Aquabox). What it is missing is possible susceptibility to vibration, no ability to lock securely, and not glove friendly...a reasonable trade off for the price perhaps.

I think I have either this model or very similar. Bought waterproof case for it on Amazon.com for $20-25 and it works great. Got coughs in heavy downpour and not a drop inside. Mine works with gloves on thru the clear plastic. I'm not sure about voice command since I use it just visually, I paired my iPhone to helmet via Bluetooth so the music and phone calls are handled using scala system. What I really like is digital speedometer cause mine is showing 5 mile higher speed (stock tire- it's weird but...). I've been using it since August of this year with no problems on NYC and NJ bumpy roads. You'll save a lot money with this, just find right 5" unit that suits your needs and get a waterproof case for it. Still to spend $700 for Zumo you can get 3 regular units...

There was an article in the latest IronButt magazine on the Nuvi 40, 50, 2455 & 2555. I haven't read the whole article but I think he decided on eother the 2455 or 2455. Hopefully that helps.

Thanks Dave. Is that mag available online to non-members?

Take a look at a Garmin 765T. I think it might have what you are looking for. I have one. I bought a waterproof cover from Amazon for around $20.00. It has a headphone jack. I plug mine into my J&M CB. It also has a MP3 player and Bluetooth.

Hey Keith! You seem to be in the popular crowd...seems like lots if guys have that model. I'll check it out.

I also have 765T , if you can find one at a reasonable cost, it would be worth getting.

You may want to check out the new line of Nuvi's that just came out.
