Getting All The States

I just ran across this photo. On a trip to NatSTOC, a few of us ran up to North Dakota to cross it off our lists. The sign was in bad shape as you can see. That’s me attempting to hold up the part that blew down. That’s as far as we ventured into that state!

I rode through South Dakota last month. That made 48 for me.

wife and I went to Alaska last year on vaca and she said "why don't you rent a bike here so that you can add Alaska to the states you have ridden in list, making it 49" and I said "because then I would be forced to go to Hawaii to make it 50 and I don't want to go to Hawaii"

Reading this had made realize how fortunate I have been. I have ridden everywhere in Canada and the US except for the three Canadian territories, Newfoundland, Vancouver Island, Alaska, and Hawaii. The below is my map of visited places that used to appear on my signature line. It incorrectly shows that I have ridden in Newfoundland and Vancouver Island. That is because the program that I used to produce this map linked Newfoundland and Labrador together as one selection so I could not select only Labrador. The same applies to B.C. and Vancouver Island.

The sad thing that I have also realized is that I don't think that I have one single photo of any provincial or state sign. As a general rule I am terrible for not taking photos. In addition to that a whole bunch of physical photos that I did have from years ago were destroyed. The nice thing is that I have done all of it starting from here in Montreal, no trailering to the start of a trip. That has added up to quite a bit of mileage but I never kept track of that either. I have a vague idea of what my total mileage on motorcycles is but not how many miles were done on these trips.

Does lacking photos as proof mean that I have start all over?

This year I added Labrador to my list. Although the Canadian Province is called "Newfoundland and Labrador", I had ridden in Newfoundland in 2018 but never across the St.Lawrence into Labrador. I corrected that serious error earlier this month when I rode the TransLabrador.

So now I just have to find a road into Nunavut...

That surprises me considering the mileage you collect. What part of the country you missing? West? Northwest? Northeast?

This my current on the ST, missed the NW Territories due to navigation error fatigued at night in the rain. I'll go back, I have to swim in the Arctic Ocean after all. There is no good reason for having missed Quebec so far. Newfoundland and Labrador are a ferry away. That brings us to Nunavut... As inspired by @amorley.



This was 11 trips.



It looks like 3 trips to wrap it up, doing it in 1 would be glorious.

I’ve been across the country in the lower tier of states. I came back to motorcycles only in 2005 at age 50. My wife’s health after that kept me on a pretty short leash. Still, I’m blessed she encouraged me to get the most out the saddle time I had.

I’ve ridden through 46 states and still lack Connecticut, Rhode Island, Louisiana, and Hawaii. Nunavut and the Northwest Territory remain unridden also. I doubt that I will ride them all……maybe Louisiana.
