Givi or Shad? What is better

Was told to put this on this forum. Need to get rid of the crappy top box that is on my bike now. The question is Givi or Shad. Saw a nice Shad 50 on a used R1200 RT whilst my eyes were wandering after having a fling with this same harlot in AZ in January.

It all comes down to affordability. There is nothing wrong with Shad cases.

I have both a Shad and a Givi on the 1100's. The Givi is just a better quality box by far. The catch mechanism on the Shad is far from sturdy and I have the say that the Givi is up to OEM Honda quality - my only issue is that it always needs to be unlocked first to open it. The Givi mounts are also better quality. Basically you pays your money etc.

I have the shad 46 on my bike and it is a great top box the latch is sturdy and you can open/close it without need for key, only lock mine at overnight hotel stays. I believe Shad makes the BMW. Luggage also. Shad also comes with base unlike high price Givi

I have a KTM 37 Litre on my ST1300- Shad makes them for KTM as well- or at least they did. No idea if they still do. Nothing wrong with it all- it has worked well for tens of thousands of miles on several different bikes. I have no reservations about recommending them. I would buy another one if for no other reason then the convenience of not needing a key to use it. It is really convenient not to have to fumble with a key all day long while traveling. Designers who force you to use a key because they think that you are to stupid to remember to lock it when it is time to should be out of business.

I have the SHAD 50 with color matched lid and I love it. Of course I don't have any experience with the other choices.

Im in the market for a new top case and stumbles upon this thread. How did you get the color matched lid? Was it from Shad?
