I would like to paint my top box so that it matches my 03 ST1300. And can't figure out how the hinges go together so that I can remove the lid.
Anybody ever done this?
Also is it possible to buy parts such as the aluminum trim piece on the out side of the Givi Maxia or the inside tie down strap that has the latch broken?

Just tape it off. That's what I did when I painted mine. I could not see how to remove the hinge pins without causing a lot of damage.

Here is the string of Q&As I received from Givi regarding removal of Givi top box lid - in this case an E460N.

Givi: You will have to use a pin punch on the closed side of the hinge. Use the punch to free the hinge pin to the open end, then grasp so you can pull out the hinge pin

Me: Thanks. OK, I see the pin on the open side and see the closed side of the hinge. Do I punch through the plastic on the closed side? Or, is there some way to finagle the pin with a punch when the lid is open?

Givi: You have to go through the plastic

Know this is about 5 years late, but hope it may assist someone else.

On the E33 the hinge pins come out fairly easily. Good thing too, because I broke a key off in the lock and needed to open the top box to get my helmet out so I could ride home. Check online at www.giviusa.com for your top box in order to see what is available.
