Hi All;
My Hondaline heated grips have failed on my 05 (no lights on the controller)
I have confirmed that I have continuity through each grip.
A) Can anyone confirm which fuse in the fuse box powers the grip harness and controller.
B) I understand that there is an additional 5 amp fuse on the grip circuit -- can anyone tell me where it is located??

Thanks for any help!!

Here is a link to a post with a schematic of the Hondaline heated grips. There is a 5amp fuse in the bottom center, just before the Quartet Harness connection.
If you have the ST1300 Service Manual, take a look in Chapter 23; the electrical schematics are there. The fuse you're interested in is E, for non-ABS bikes (15amps), and F for ABS bikes (at least according to another thread). According to my copy of the SM, the E fuse is for "Hazzard & ACC."

Check the quartet harness fuse under the left side panel to confirm it hasn't blown before you invest time in removing plastic. Much easier to get to.

Which fuse under the left side panel is this? ---Is it inside the 3 fuse holder that is attached to the front side of 'fusebox B' as in the picture?

Okay, I think I have a better answer for you. I found the following ST thread https://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?34315-HELP!!!-Where-s-the-Quartet-Fuse&highlight=quartet%2Bfuse

Basically, there are two different fuses that the Quartet Harness uses (not including the 5a fuse with the heated grips).
"Re: HELP!!! -- Where's the Quartet Fuse?
The harness connects to two fuses, a 10A fuse labeled Battery/Clock (unswitched) and a 15A labeled Hazard/Accy. Oh remove the left middle panel to get to the fuse blocks."

Since you've already removed the left side cover (middle panel in above text), all you need to do is to identify the location of the fuses by name on the fuse box cover. Check the fuses to see if they are blown or not (you will need to remove the fuse to check visually).

If you have the side cover off, absent labeling of the fuses, just pull them one at a time and check each one with an audible continuity tester. I have given up on visually checking fuses having been fooled more than once. I prefer a tester that emits a beep for continuity, though a light works just as well.

Ty. Having a similar issue.

My bike is an 04 non abs so the wiring might be different. If my memory serves me right I think the fuse is is in the left box just out of the picture and marked hazard and accessories. This fuse powers both turn signals and quartet harness (so is upline from your grip heaters) so you could simply verify that your turn signals work. If you have other farkles plugged into quartet harness verify their functionality. If the grip heaters are the only problem and you find a blown inline fuse in the grip circuit it would have blown for a reason (and that's where the real detective work begins). FYI I have been riding this season with KOSO heated grips I installed last winter and like them. Large diameter and 5 heat settings, about $80 Canadian from my STealer. Good Luck!
