I agree, some of those comments are disagreeable. I've never had an issue with heat on my ST. Granted, I've only had it in a colder climate (Alberta) and now a temperate climate (Vancouver Island) but even in the summer heat, it never caused an issue. And I tend to run hot (thanks to lots of subcutaneous insulation) so I generally notice blasts of heat.

I also don't understand the negative comments re weight. Yes, it's a beast to push around the garage or pick up....so I've heard....but once underway, it's about the smoothest bike I've ever ridden.

Had my ST1100 for ten years 80k miles, my ST1300 for 12 years 130+ K miles never had a heat problem, but one time on I-70 in Kansas on the 4th of July wearing mesh riding pants. Now I have been a FJR for almost the last 11 years with 62k miles on it. So far the Best bike of the three. All the good points, none of the bad points. Also an in the process of acquiring a new NT1100 to supplement my FJR. Trading in my Big Versys 1000 SE. Getting older and don't do a lot of long distance any more for various reasons Will see how well the new NT1100 works out. It should take me into my 80's. Maybe the last bike I buy. Not sure how much longer I will keep the FJR also.

I totally agree. I think that most people who complain about the weight have never ridden one. I’ve seen this trend a lot on Reddit. Not long ago a guy on there was giving out advice to a newer rider telling him that you don’t want an ST1300 because they’re too top-heavy and aren’t good at slow-speed maneuvers. I pointed out to him police rodeos and asked him if he’d ever actually ridden one. Mainly the response was “I’ve got a buddy that’s a motorcycle cop”, and “the ST is better on the highway but the Harleys are better at slow speeds”. I decided any further communication with him would be an insult to my senses so I left it at that. All that to say that MOST bikes are heavy, most weigh over 500 pounds, that’s a lot to be pushing around. But once you get rolling most of that weight falls away on the ST.

The weight is part of what makes the STs good for both highway and twisty-road riding.

The greater sprung- to unsprung-weight ratio means the road moves the bike around less.
