How’s the parts support for the ST1300?

I’m looking at moving away from my hooligan bikes (Hayabusa & supermoto) and doing some more long distance riding.

I’ve look at the STs years ago but now I’m seeing that they’re discontinued.

the question is: how’s the parts support from Honda? How’s the used parts market?
I’ve had my hayabusa 14 years and put 40k miles on it in those years. Is it a safe to assume that I could get another 10 years and 40-50k miles out of a used ST1300?

I buy from our local Honda dealership but they are having to order more parts than in the past, but usually the delay is short. Rebuild kits for most everything can be ordered from a few of our remaining local shops.
Lots of online sources for original Honda parts...Ron Ayers, Revzilla, Partzilla, others. Just comparison shop cost and shipping charges. Ebay is a decent source for used parts....just be careful as some sellers aren't quite honest with their claims of applicability, their parts kits seem to fit everything with two wheels.
One source folks tend to overlook is local wrecking yards.
And.....obvious is just ask on this site. Someone is likely to have something you need or can identify a source.

Since the 1300 was sold to the public until 2012 and to police departments as late as 2017, I don't expect parts availability will be an issue for quite some time. Some are starting to have issues getting parts for the 1100 which was sold until 2002.

Just take a look at suppliers stock lists. Here in the UK fowlers (fowlers.co.uk) is a major supplier of Honda parts. Take a look at the fiches. Many pages have 'Not in Stock' against them, but they can get them - either from the larger European warehouses, or from Japan. Those for which stock have run out completely say 'No Longer Available' - which means there aren't any to be had through the supply chain including Japan. Beware the same sort of list from companies that do not have direct access to the larger suppliers or to what Honda, Japan can produce. They may paint a gloomier picture.

Very little ever goes wrong with these bikes and the few known issues are not difficult to fix nor are parts a problem IMO. Honda seems to have good stocks of OEM parts and Partzilla and other suppliers also are well-stocked.

A key point is that a lot of service parts are common with other Honda models (oil filters etc.) and even some electrical, brake and clutch parts. The key common bike would be the Gold Wing and the GL parts-base is enormous because so many of those bikes have been sold over the last 45+ years.

I too used to think the st1300 production ended in 2012 but it actually carried on longer.

I have a 2014 "civilian" version.

American Honda generally provides parts support for 10 years after the last model year imported. It's usually the fairing paint colored bits that show NLA first. Because the 2003 was the only year of black wheels in the USA those wheels are already NLA, as is the black clutch and front brake master cylinders. The maintenance panels that year are NLA as are some body panels, 2004 & 2005s have some NLA body panels.
