On the recommendation of IgoFar I'm using that Walmart brand of diesel truck oil.

And since they don't sell it in large containers in the 10W -30 weight,
I think what I've been buying is 15W-40.

Paired with a Mobil 1 filter.

It's dinosaur squeezins' --not synthetic oil.

But @gunsmoker, it is "diesel" oil. Isn't that going to make your engine diesel or preignite? That's got to be harmful.

BTW, I highly recommend STP. I never met an engine that smoked from burning oil after pouring a bottle of that in the crankcase. Or if it did, it smoked less.

Oil is all good and fine, but you can't really beat pure lard.

That is promising. Think about this. When the engine cools down, the lard solidifies and coats all the bearing surfaces. So at startup when most dino-oil is sitting in the sump, the lard is protecting the innards of your motorcycle. And then as the engine heats up, it liquifies applying the right amount of lubricant in all the right places.

Now...I know this may sound crazy, but I'm serious. Can I put bacon in somehow to cook while the engine is heating up? It does say on the packaging that it is suitable for "frying". What else would you fry with lard than bacon in your engine?

Mine's the best! I FOUND some oil for my compact tractor. It was in a road ditch (seriously) and I saw it, placed it near the road where it could be easily seen and 2 weeks later no one had claimed it...so I took it home. So now I have 5 gallons of Claas synthetic diesel oil, which I have since learned is staggeringly expensive stuff. Correct ratings for my little 25 HP machine, may also send a sample off to check for friction modifiers as I can't find much info on it.

One of the problems with friction modifier additive, especially on motorcycle is they can make lack enough friction to roll over the roller bearing enough to keep them round. As I have said before some additives won't hurt your engine. A good brand of oil will work just great as long as you use the owners manual recommendation.
