Good morning everyone

It's IWD (a.k.a. Labor or Labour Day) in much of the world today, so let's assume Martin, Stoo, and the rest are having a lie-in on their holiday, or perhaps they're out in the streets singing the Internationale. Here in the Noonited States it's just Friday, 1 May.

It's 39°F and (supposedly) clear in Rockville, going to a sunny 65 later on.

We'll take the 88 year old widow who lives across the court out for her birthday this morning. We tried, on the actual date a bit over a month ago, but got skunked when we arrived only to discover that the target venue is closed on Tuesdays.

After that, it's goof with my regular playing partner / neighbor.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning and I'll echo the happy Labour Day especially to the underappreciated who keep the wheels moving
the movie will come to mind eventually, you know the one where the guy keeps adjusting the hands on the clock and ends up
getting relieved by the other guy that almost collapses from exhaustion - well made point for a silent movie if you like that sort of thing
On the brighter side, it's gonna get brighter here in the lower mainland, looks like highs this weekend above 25 so best time to get a ride in is early
Hope to get onto some other ongoing projects stay focused and resist the temptation to take on anything new
but first, no labour day here
Wish everyone a good one and a good long weekend if you've got it

Morning all, and thanks Keith, for the coffee.

No holiday here, just labouring.

9C and wet. Torrential downpours overnight, accompanied by winds that made the rain sound like hail on the house windows. Guess we had warnings.

Had my first short ride of 2026 yesterday afternoon, about 40km. Took the wing out for a short jaunt, then came home and grabbed the new trailer for it's maiden voyage and repeated the loop. You almost can't see the trailer in the bike's mirrors. You can only see the little silver bits of it's direction signals.

I did find the lighting wasn't working properly on it, so had some troubleshooting to do when I got home.

It had 2 issues.

Issue 1. was the wiring adapter was wired wrong (not my fault as it came with the trailer.) The trailer is a 6 way square and the bike is a 5 way flat. I cut all the wires, checked the bike's feeds with a tester and trailer wiring with an external battery. Rewired and tested OK now.

Issue 2. was the LED bulb upgrades the PO had done. LED bulbs with a high/low can work 2 ways. Two independent sets of LEDs, or one set of shared LEDs with a resistor on the low side (so it's dimmer.) A decent bulb has diode(s) to prevent the power from back feeding to the other circuit. The brake/tail light bulb they bought didn't have a diode in it, so it was back feeding power into the bike's extra brake lights thru my isolator.

Swapped the offending LED out for an incandescent bulb and all was good.

I'm sure this was all Greek to some of you. When I was explaining it to my wife at supper, her eyes glazed over and she said all she heard was "blah blah, blah blahblah."

Hope everyone has a great day!

Obo.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the day just continues to get better.
It's 42, rising to 62 and the sun will be out most of the day.

For some reason, the sleepies hit me, yesterday, and I just couldn't stay awake. The recliner felt sooo good! I'm surprised that I was able to sleep, when I finally did go to bed, but I managed. While I was asleep, after dinner, Brenda made some banana bread, so breakfast is tasty this morning

I got a message, yesterday, that my urologist follow-up appointment had been moved from 11:00 to 9:30. I'm looking forward to not having tubing hanging out of my %^&*.
Afterward, we'll head over to the VA to see if they can remove the staples a bit early.

Brenda is all packed, and she'll head north to Loudon after dinner. It looks like I'll be alone for a couple of days

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Mornin’ y’all. Thanks, Keith. Ok, I’ll help celebrate workers day, but when do we celebrate retirees day? I vote for the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of next week.

Still cool at 47. Sunny and 66 for the high. About 15 degrees cooler than the last couple of weeks.

Nothing planned for today, but a late night TV ad has now caused a craving for a hot, juicy steak. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time that I went out for a steak, but today might be the day. I guess I’d better brace myself for sticker shock.

John

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Keith!

There were no power outages last night, so I actually got some sleep. Today will be sunny, but cool and gusty with temps ranging from the current 4°C/39°F to 12°C/54°F. Not much on the agenda today, other than venturing out to replace my bedside table lamp, which seem to be shorting out after many, many years.

Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

G'mornin' from SoMD the office! It was 38F/4C when I left the house. Commute was tolerable, thanks to precaffeination before setting out. Thanks, Keith!

Not much to report. The ST has been chugging along nicely while I figure out the Av's issues. Mainly LTFTs are too positive (lean), but it stumbles and tries to stall when the STFTs suddenly shift very negative (rich). No stored codes. The suddenness tells me it's electrical or electromechanical like a evap solenoid, and the lean condition has me thinking the intake gaskets I installed a year or so ago weren't the fel-pro quality that I expected. *sigh* more money, but I guess it beats a car payment.

For those holidaying, enjoy. For those of us laboring, get back to work. And for those retired, pick one or the other you lazy lot. Take care y'all!

G'mornin Keith and crew. 46 warming to 75 in the afternoon, so I will just have to take advantage. Went out for a nice RTE with friends yesterday to an old 40's roadside drive thru burger joint still in business. 140 miles is still a short loop, but early in the season for us and it felt great.
I have read a few times on here the admonition to tell your loved ones they are loved while you still can. I sent flowers to my sis yesterday who lost her daughter (my niece) the day before to self inflicted death. 43 yrs old. RIP Corinne.
A few pics attached of yesterday's outing.

Good Morning Y'all, thanks Keith for coffee and Starting the conversation. Little Precious scared me this morning, we went to open the gate, and her to the bathroom, she over exerted her heart running around, and collapsed on the kitchen floor. Picked her up and Massaged her for a half hour. She is resting peacefully at the moment. Todays Agenda, ride to Landlord and pay rent, then go to John Deere dealership and get a new belt and two pulleys for the Zero turn mower. Of course, reassemble mower. Sunny 13 C high 21 C , perfect for riding, cheers G

... let's assume Martin, Stoo, and the rest are having a lie-in on their holiday...
I most certainly had not...

Up at 0545hrs... splashed some Nespresso down my throat... :coffee:
Arrived at the shed shortly after 0800hrs...
Rummaged around a bit... the AA flat-bedded the green '92 non ABS in shortly after 1000hrs...
I helped the driver to untie and unload the ST, and tipped him for backing his truck in, right before my garage there...

No pressure on clutch, view-glass fully dull, took lid off: ... black, gooey mud in there... pfffff...
So I made the SC, then the MC + a new view-glass (fortunately had all rep-kits/parts in stock), new brass bushing, new rubber boot, of course also new aluminum gasket rings on the banjo fittings...
I fill DO4, attach my air powered vacuum bleeder, flush generously (250cc/9oz to clean the line as well), close the bleeder,
start pumping the MC to get the few remaining bubbles out, start to feel a pressure point, and...

with a silent "plop!" inside the handlebar cover the hose burst... DAFUQ?!!

Quickly washing DOT4 off the inside of the handlebar plastic, empting the hydraulic again (air powered bleeder is a great tool)...
And fortunately did I also have a clutch hose in my stash... 😎

Replaced a few missing/wrong screws on the fairing while at it, found the battery being pretty drained, so I attached my GENIUS5...

A little over 4 hours later the fella was back on the road... and happy...

And now: a well earned afternoon brew... :coffee:😎

Morning all! Sunny and bright with high cirrus cloud to the west. 11C now, 21C later.

I have to go back to Calgary towards the end of the month for a memorial charity golf tournament for a buddy who passed away at the end of December. The plan had been to drive out with my daughter but she just got a new job and won't be able to make the trip now. Which means, I can take the ST!

Next comes the month of extensive playing err planning; route, what to take, emergency gear, etc. I may take an extra day or two and ride a scenic route. Current preliminary plan is contemplating a return via the Icefield Parkway to Jasper, the Yellowhead down to Kamloops across to Pemberton, down through Whistler and along the Sea to Sky to Vancouver and ferry back home. Though I am also hearing the siren song of the Crowsnest Highway (Hwy 3) across the southern portion of BC. Decisions.....decisions.....

Stimpa, I am so sorry to hear about your niece. My condolences and sympathies to your sister and family.

So far, I appear to be the only one in the office today which means I may play hooky this afternoon....

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Keith & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 57F, up from 35F, and heading for 64F. We have a slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the N @ 16 to 25mph.

Before moving here, I did not realize that the winds blew through here, as much as they do. The good thing is we don't suffer with the inversion layer (smog - but they don't call it smog here, too "Californian" :rofl1: ) like Salt Lake does.

Tim, so sorry to hear about your niece. Prayers going out for her family.

Progress! I was able to finish the prep and lay down the landscaping cloth. I then dumped around 20 scoops of gravel on it. Plenty more to go!

I also need to lay out the block that I'm going to create a planter. This will be behind the fire hydrant and along that side of the yard.

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
