Hi guys......ok I'm the first to admit that I am NOT a pro-wrencher; rather I know just enough to get myself into trouble!!!!
I'm trying to install a Kisan SM-3 Signal Minder. This group told me where the signal/hazard flasher is located. I found it and replaced the relay with the Kisan (plug n play). I even added the recommended ground lead to the wire block. It just wont work!! Nothing nada zilch. I tried a different ground location, tried it w/o the added ground ....nothing. Re-installed the original relay and all is fine. Truly disappointed as I was really looking forward to NOT feeling so SENILE everytime I forget to turn off my signals...LOL:rolleyes:
I called Kisan's Tech line and got a courteous reply a little later. The tech states that I was using the wrong relay as it is ONLY for the hazards. The signal relay is under windshield. Well before I stripped down the nose I decided to check the SM. I dont see any signal relay for the 2004 ST1300 under the windshield.
Really could use your input here....THX!!!!:bow1:

No, the signal relay is under the left side panel. And the turn signal and hazard relay are the same unit. You'll find that, once you get this thing working, the Kisan will shut off the hazard lights after the time limit, too, a disadvantage to the system. So A) the folks at Kisan don't have the right information (not good); B) do not *do not* tear off any more plastic, and C) seems like a bad unit from Kisan or you have the wrong part number.
I don't remember which model I got (and I'm not going out to the garage to look! sorry) but mine has worked perfectly for 5 years.

Have you checked that you have cancelled the turn signal at the switch? The Kisan will stop the flashing but you must reset the switch each time before the signals will work again. Just a thought. (I have so few these days.)

Thanks for the input guys!!!!! I didn't put the metal springs in the switch because the turn signals or the Hazards never came on!!! They were just "dead". So leads me to believe I have a bad unit. I'm going to try one more time Sat. as my riding partner and I are doing a bike maintenance day.
Pete.....ya know I never thought of that about the hazards.....:(

I wrote to Kisan about this the signal having to be reset each time (thats sucks) They told me how to fix it and I will try it this weekend and let you know how it went. Look in this forum to see if I got it fixed.

Andy from Kisan returned my call and told me how to make it work properly. I missed in the instructions that one bit about if I wanted the canceling to work WITHOUT have to push to cancel I needed to hook up the running light option. It was easy too. Use the white-black-red wires in the kit to have the turn signals act as running lights also. At each of the turn signal under the seat is a white plug with 2 wires going into the bulb. The Light Blue (right) using the T-Taps attach the white wire. Left is Orange T-TAP the black wire. I didn't use the red wire option which is is the brake option read instructions to use that option. I took it for a test and all is GREAT now. Push once to activate signal push again to cancel before they are timed out. Here is a link to the instructions. http://www.kisantech.com/brochures/SM-inst-manual.pdf Happy Trails LDM
