I am trying to get the seat on my ST1300 low enough that my wife (not a giant) can ride it. I have a Corbin Dual Canyon Close that is very broken in (worn clear out). On it she can’t get enough traction with her feet to back it up. Does anybody have any experience with a lower seat option?

I go with "never back up" unless I park uphill then gravity will do the work. There is a shock made that is 1" lower - I believe it's one of the progressive shocks and one of my friends has it on his 1300. It really helps but is expensive.

I have a "spencerised" stock seat that is a bit lower. This seat builder modifies the stocker with a gel insert, i believe, and knocks the height down a bit. That would be your best bet probably, because as well as being lower, the stocker is the narrowest seat you will find, which helps with shorter legs. I have a corbin as well, but because it is a "saddle" style, it is wider, which negates the fact that it is actually a lower/thinner seat. Do a google search or search here for Spencer seats. I believe he is in florida. Others will chime in with other ideas such as lower suspensions, thicker shoes, etc., so you have other options.

Hi Dave here, I have been building custom seats for over 40 years and I can help with your seat
but remember there are limits, it all depends on the seat pan, it is usually best to modify a stock
seat because they are usually lower than aftermarket seats.
Give me a call I will give you some pointers. 209-887-3283 motorcycledave@mac.com
