I would like to replace the luggage protection on my bike. No idea what is on there now, they are chrome (big help I know) and have a backing plate. I am assuming they are goldwing bars but does anyone have a suggestion on which bars may fit this set up?

Was curious if these would work, seems that tab needs to be cut off but the rest looks like my current bars, if anyone has an idea:

Yes, you have the GoldWing bars, with the Red Dirt Cowboy adapter plates. Not necessarily a cheap set up.

There are a number of different set ups, but other than the Bike Quip UK set up, I'm not sure of any others making them at this time.

I have the same setup you have, on my 2012.

On my 2004, I have a different setup, but I don't know who by.

Thanks so if I kept the adapter plate would those bars I linked form eBay work?
Who knows? I will point out a couple of things. The ebay bars are thin tubing that has been flattened at one end and bent then punched for the bolt. They look like garbage to me, but I delight in well made, sturdy things. Look at what you have, the thickness of the metal, workmanship, etc. Those are robust and won't bend. Now look closely at the ebay version. You get what you pay for.

Yep I get it. The issue is the ones I have are pitting and rusting and look like crap, I can have them chromed again but it's about $200.....

I don't like the chrome, no, but I wouldn't change just for that, they chrome is putting and rusting so the bars just look bad, as I'm going through the entire bike and cleaning, repairing, painting and polishing things over the winter the bars are on my hit list.

The Goldwing bars you have will fit and don't need a backing plate at all. Some of us used GW bars and pinched the ends together in a vise then held the position with a hose clamp. The pinching just a little makes the bolt holes line up with the holes in the passenger peg step plate. Considering that is how Honda mounted them on the 900 lb GW - they are plenty sturdy for the 730 lb ST1300. I haven't looked in a while but they used to be cheap and plentiful on fleaBay or from a GW trike builder.

The ones currently on his bike are made the same way. They are both Goldwing bars. The only difference is chrome vs black and the extra tab. If I remember correctly the ones with the extra tab are from the F6B Goldwing.
