Metzeler ME880 Reinforced and Dunlop D407 ? anyone tried it?

Just curious since I was searching and looking to see if I wanted to take another 2up trip these look like they might stand up better to weight ... both look like they are reinforced ... they have a load rating of 78 ... much more then the 'normal' 72 or 73 ...

Metzeler doesn't seem to list it but I know they made one before with a 72 load rating ... :

Dunlop looks like its a Harley tire but it is a radial ...:

I have used the ME880 higher load rated tire on the rear of my ST1300 for the last 2 tire changes. Rides and handles well and appears to be a longer lasting tire for me. Lately I have been flatting them out rather than wearing them out.

In any case I am really happy with the ME and will do it again next time.

I have gone back to the Marathon for the back as I haven't found another that lasts as long. For the front I use the Dunlop Elite 3 130 for the Goldwing. It looks to be good for 20,000 miles or more. The combination works for me.

i JUST CHANGED TO THE DUNLOP ELITE 3 130 FOR THE FRONT AND IT LOOKS GOOD. I LIKED THE EXTRA WEIGHT RATING. I AM STILL CONSIDERING SOMETHING FOR THE REAR. FROM MEASUREMENTS I KNOW I CAN GO AS FAR AS THE 205/50 17 CAR TIRE BUT AM LOOKING AT TO 200/55 R17 SERIES TIRES FROM BOTH DUNLOP AND METZELER 880 AS YOU ARE A LITTLE MORE TREAD ON THE ROAD. I RUN A HACK SO WITH THE EXTRA 400 LBS I NEED A HEAVER TIRE FOR BOTH FRONT AND REAR. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION.
