I just received my Cycleport Gear and thought I would share with the group. I picked the high viz yellow because in the military we have really stressed the be seen part of safety and they "highly encourage" everyone to wear a relfective/bright colored vest. Well I figured this fits the bill, plus I do like the combo.

The jacket in the Ultra II Kevlar Jacket ( have the gortex liner on in the pictures - it also comes with a thermal liner {$extra}). The pant are the Air Mesh Kevlar Pants.

This week's 50cc will be my first trip with them so I will let everyone know how they worked out, but fit and finish are up there with anything I've owned (2 previous Jackets were Tourmaster Cortechs & Fieldsheer mesh pants). There is padding/armor in the front, shoulders, elbows, & back on the jacket and hips (extra), thighs, knees, & shins on the pants. From what I read the pants are like aerostich when it comes to putting on (ie the right completely unzips and the left to the crotch so you take them off without removing yor boots)

If you go to http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/motoport/ yo can read a good comparison between Motoport and Aerostich

I recently bought an Aerostich. I am still waiting for it. However, I decided to go with the Aero because production time was four weeks instead of twelve for the Motoport. How lond did you wait for your jacket?

Oh man, Ed, that's a good looking set of gear. Just wish I could afford it. I'm curious how it works for you when the weather gets warmer. I've heard (I think on this forum) that it was as close to an all year long outfit as was possible.

Lookin' good! :)

Where are my shades  LOL

Looks very similar to one that I have, but mine is a Hein Gericke Dayglow Jacket.

Cool looking but a shite to keep clean in our mucky weather. Nice buy, see and be seen is the moto.

Stay safe.

Looking forward to reading your follow-up report. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a Motoport suit.
* Did they have to make any alterations for you, or were you able to get a standard size?
* How long did it take you to receive it?

Thanks for the info.

Sam

I ordered the suit on 12 Oct and it was shipped on 27 Jan. Motoport has you send in your measurements and builds the jacket off of those (even thought the tag on the inside does say large - custom size??), in the end though both fit great and especially the pants because they all tend to be short on me 6'2" w/34 inseam

Looks good. I have often wished I would have got the Hi-viz jacket.

Yes, Cycleport, builds off your measurements and requests. While the garments are not true custom tailored what they can do it something like fit your sleeve length with your chest and waist width. Standard sizes have a given chest and sleeve length. Some, like First Gear, might offer tall sizes so you do not have to buy a tent to get a good sleeve length. As for the pants they are built to the length you specify with the knee bend (armor) at the position you specify.

When I sent in my measurements I also told them I wanted enough room to fit a heated vest or cool vest underneath with the jacket being snug. The more info you can give them the better they can build the right size for your wants/desires.

I have a few questions:

  1. What is the nail for on the top of the garage door?
  2. Are you repairing a door? I see a small wood shim on the ground.
  3. Are you adding farkels? I also see a zip tie, looks like a used one, on the ground in front of the garage door.
  4. I see you closed the garage door. Are you going out riding when you should be home taking care of alll those "homeowner" chores?:D :D :D :)

Love those high-rez pictures. Zoom right in.

Jacket looks great too. Red helmet clashes with the Hi-vis though.

I've had my Motoport Ultra II Kevlar pants for about a year now. I like them a whole bunch.

The kevlar has a 4-way stretch that I like. Heck, since hit 29 for the........um.....well, since I have aged, I appreciate the benefit that comes with stretch iffnyaknowwhatImean. If you don't know, go ask your wife.

My motoports replaced my Darien pants that I, well, lets just say that I moved to 'the land of great food', injured my delicate little self, and did not adjust my eating habits accordingly. Basically what I'm saying is that the Darien pants shrunk about 2-3 sizes over the last coupla years.

When I ordered the moto's last year, I told them that I was planning on using them for the spring tour and my Dariens did not fit. The chick I ordered from gave me instructions on what to send. She also said that I would not regret ordering the liner, so I did.

The pants arrived (overnighted FedEx Super Duper Priority Delivery) the morning before our departure date. Just like Wayne (the owner) said they would.

On our spring tour I took the moto's and Darien jacket. We ended up in some pretty extreme conditions (80s and sunny to 20's and blowing snow to 50s and frog-choking rain).

The moto's are not indicated as waterproof, but I did not get wet in the downpour (note factors beyond the pants play into that also). The pants also dried quickly hanging next to the hotel room heat unit.

The pockets are awesome, big enough to stick my GPS (among other things) in if wandering away from the bike. They are located on the side of the pant, mid-thigh, kinda like BDUs. I also kept my wallet in the right one for easy access (try that in a Darien!)

The pants, due to the stretchiness, did not bind or pinch and were way more comfy that my broken-in Darien pants ever were.

When we got home from the tour (NM, CO, WY, UT, MT, ID) I called Wayne and told hom the pants fit well, but were a tad tighter than I would have liked but still very serviceable. Despite that I still liked them a LOT!! The liner did not fit at all, so I returned it, with instructions from Wayne to let me know if I want them altered accordingly, and that if I am not happy with the pants, to return them with a pair of jeans and they will adjust at no charge. If I had to order again, that is what I would do, send jeans along with the order.

I did not return the pants, as I tend to plump up over winter and return (somewhat  ) over the summer months, so I waited until the end of summer to decide whether to have the pants altered and whether to keep the liner. At summer's end, I did not need to have the pants altered, and was refunded in full for the liner at my request, even at that late date.

Why did I not like the liner? You wear the liner under the pants and the liner is the 'waterproof' layer. To me it makes no sense at all to have to 'plan for rain'. I do not want to get caught in a downpour and have to pull off, get the liner out of a sidebag, take off my pants, put on the liner, put on my pants, then coninue my ride...all in the rain. Besides, the pants did fine on their own.

If I had initially talked to Wayne instead of the chick that took my order, I think the pants would have fit perfectly. The chick I originally talked to kept trying to get me in an off-the-rack size. I told her that wouldn't work, cuz, well, this baby's got some back. She told me a waist size was all they needed. I told her that my waist size was ~9 inches smaller than my hips, thus the problem with the Darien. It's cut for guy. You guys keep your fat a little higher than we gals do.

I am happy with the pants and would order again. I like them much better than my Dariens. I am considering the jacket.

Wayne was top-notch to work with. I would order from him again.

Sorry for the ramble, but my ultra II's rock! :headbang:

THANKS for the info. The posts from Ed, Norman and STrider have definetely taken me over the edge. Since I'm gong to HSTA's STAR '06 in Avon, CO the middle of June, I guess I had better order them tomorrow

The idea about sending in the jeans is great. Also, the point STrider made about .... "planning on rain, etc." regarding the liners.

Chris and I have the Air Mesh (AZ gets warm soon!) top and bottom.
We both like them.
Chris tested the top with a bunch of rolls when a semi cut her off. The jacket showed some scraping along the reflective tape seam... she had no injuries where the jacket covered.
And she bought another one and likes it too.

I like that we can put a wet vest under the jackets in the summer and put a liner in them in the winter.
