Hello family, I need to replace the front and back tires on my vehicle. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best tires to purchase?

I've liked the Dunlops lately. Right now I'm using Shinko which seems a perfectly good tire and less expensive than a lot of others. I'm just using them until I put on some Dunlops just before WeSToc.

Don't tell anyone on this site but I have been buying so many motorcycle tires lately(8 in past year) that I go on Ebay find the best deal for the correct size and just buy them and install them in my garage. I even have a spare back wheel for the ST so that I can just swap and go.

I always try something different from what's on the bike until I get what I feel works for me for mileage and performance... there are so many factors based on where you live, when you ride the most and your style of riding..

I have always found Shinkos to last longer than the BT23 or T30. But the H50s got 18k out of them but the price has become unreasonable.

I was very disappointed in the two sets of PR5GTs, that I put on my 2012 (2nd set are still on it, with less than 5K miles and they don't look like they would survive a 2,500 mile ride to WeSTOC).

Currently I have a set of PR4GTs (as spares) and a set of Shinkos that I had bought for the 2006 Cop Bike, that I had planned on fixing up for Brett. But I sold him the 2010, with PR4GTs that only had a few K miles on them, so I'm not sure what I'll do with those yet.

I do have an, almost new, PR 6 sitting in my shed on the front rim of the '05 I brought up from Arizona a few months back. I'm debating to buy a Rear PR 6 and put them on my 2012.

Right now I plan to ride the 2004, to WeSTOC, which has PR4GTs on it that have less than 1K miles on them.

Tells of Tires! LOL

I was confident, and felt secure cornering in wet or dry with the Dunlop Roadsmart (4s or 5s, don't remember), and the Michigan Road 6s felt even better.

Mileage and wear was good on both brands... but no equal to my Vredestein.

I am currently looking for new tires and I came across some information that I felt was good to share. I know many riders of heavier bikes that exclusively buy GT spec tires - currently this only includes the Bridgestone T32 in ST1300 sizes. I reached out to Dunlop about the Roadsmart IV, as they sell a GT spec and SP spec in Europe, but do not have that designation in North America.

Here was their response:

"Thank you for reaching out to Dunlop Motorcycle Tires. The Roadsmart IV available in North America is equivalent to the European GT version. The Roadsmart IV is suitable for a 2003 Honda ST 1300 and meets the requirements."

Perhaps this was well known, but I thought it would be good to share if anyone was scared off since the Roadsmart IV is not listed as GT spec.

A pair of Roadsmart IV's can be had for $163.95 (front) and $185.95 (rear) + tax and shipping in Canada (so CAD). They are quite an attractive choice at that price.
