Helmets New Helmet on the market

I think I'll just stick with the Caberg. The sunvisor covers better and is great in the rain as well. I also have a choice in style, either flip up or full face and the flip up is convertable. My :tc1:

So did anyone get one of these helmets are they any good, I've just tried one on and it fit. I have problems with flip fronts I must have a Dan Dare chin. I cant usually get the chin bar to close without hitting my chin.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hope no one is getting their hopes up on it. Here is a review from web bike world. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/shark-evoline/

Quote from Webbike.

"The Evoline is louder than most flip-ups, mostly due to the unique design and construction. As mentioned above, a volume of air comes in under the chin bar and some of it blows against the joint where the rotating chin bar meets the cheek pads. A hand placed there helps make it quieter."

The also state poor ventalation.

My HJC has the same issue for noise. Some of the users comments are strange.... Moving the chin bar while riding..... Guess I'm too conservative. Does he program his GPS on the move too?

I have a word of the day now:
The user review used the word "pants" as in
"The hermetic rain seal on the visor is pants, it runs down the inside ".....

I don't think I like the chin bar moving so far back. While it looks clean, it takes time to close. My KBC FFR modular's chin bar sits high and is almost neutral to the wind when open, and just snapping my neck downward will close and lock it in a hurry. It is also noisy, but i wear earplugs.
I don't ride with it open often, and the time I want it open most, at low speeds, is when really I want it closed most, coming into towns or traffic.

after a two years search I found the KBC's FFR to be the only modular that fits my big head. Schuberth's xxl doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere so I couldn't try it.

Anyone get an Evoline yet? News and reviews?

I'm pretty sold on a SyMax2, but I'd consider the extra quid for the Evoline if I heard more about it.

I read the webbikeworld review and actually came away thinking that it's as good a review as they've ever given of a modular helmet. They generally hate every product they test over there, so if they give it any praise at all, it's a good sign. :shrug2:

Sorry folks lost this thread so this was posted elsewhere in November.
I have been looking for a new modular helmet for a while now. My Lazer Revolution is getting a bit long in the tooth now, and to be honest I find it a bit heavy, my beggared neck cant take it on long rides.
I have been tempted by the Shark Evolution. I was worried about the weight of this helmet too but it just seems like it disappears when it's on your head. I tried one on at a dealers, the fittings a bit odd I usually wear a large size but need a medium in the Shark. The chin piece seems a little flimsy (no padding on it) but I suppose this is due to the design of it going over the helmet. But it's passed the tests both as a full face and an open face so it should be strong. I wasn't overly impressed with the colour choice the Evoline offered either, the bronze is IMHO really bad.....But I was just trolling Ebay and they now they do them in WHITE....YES...happy now and the order is placed.
I want this helmet for going to work in and as I use the Para bike for my commute white is the ideal colour.

I will post a report on this helmet when I have used it for a while.

IT ARRIVED NOVEMBER 29
Heres the follow on post
The Evoline arrived Thursday.
I checked the build quality and it's good really good. The fittings are all nice and tight the inertia has no loose threads no bad stitching. The visor has three open settings which are positive they are open a little bit about 2mm open about 8mm and fully open. Both the Vents are nice and stiff to use I don't like floppy vents. The chin bar action is easy to fathom you must have the visor open a little for it to operate the single button makes it an easy one handed operation. On shutting the chin bar you have to push it back a little to lock it off. All the metal fittings including the lock mech are stainless.
I rode to work wearing it yesterday, it was very cold and frosty so I left the visor open first setting and both vents open, no misting up until I was stood at the lights, the second open setting stopped the misting very good I rode the rest of the way in with the visor like this no misting up and no cold air in my eyes. I like it, even though the visor has to be operated from the top centre which meant I was putting my hand in the line of vision, maybe I'm not doing it right.
On the ride home I played with all the settings on the helmet. Open face was too cold this time of year but the helmet felt very stable open even at 50mph. The internal sun visor is operated from the centre top of the helmet and although good at doing it's job of shielding the low winter evening sun, I would have liked it to be a little longer, I found that when looking at the speedo I could see the edge of it in my line of vision. The ratchet fastener is easy to use and unlike most it does have a lock tab on it to stop false openings if it gets caught on your collar. It can be opened and the strap released with one hand.
As far as the all important noise issue with modulars it's good not silent none ever will be, but it's better than My Lazer Revolution and is even better than the Shoei Multitec I used on the work bikes. It's actually on a par with my Nitro N510-V full face. I'm looking forward to trying it behind the MRA screen I bet with proper adjustment of the screen I can make the helmet even quieter.
I'm going to like living with this helmet it's good. Quirky but fun I think it looks great too. If your after a new helmet you owe it to yourself to try this Shark, just remember the fitting sizes are a bit odd. A large on me was way too big and I usually wear large.

POSTED THIS MONTH
UPDATE.
I have been living with the Shark for a couple of months now so thought I should update. Well after been prompted by Dave to be honest.
Fitting the Autocom head set took a little bit of work. Getting the cable to come out of the helmet in a sensible place took a bit of working out, the fit of the inner panels is really good.
I rode in the rain within the first couple of weeks of owning it and it was a nightmare. I could not wipe the rain off the visor, I usually just run my gloved finger over them and it's enough. Now I have no idea what Shark treat the visors with but the rain just seemed to stick it just sort of smeared. I'm certain it was nothing on my gloves. I had to ride home with the visor up. I washed the visor well in soapy water and treated it to some furniture polish, I always do this and it's been fine since. So if your thinking of buying one please take note.
On the first longish trip in the Shark after about 90 miles I could feel the helmet on my fore head, you know the sensation, I'm sure. I moved it about on my head but it was too late to get any relief. I pulled over and had a walk round for half an hour. I felt inside the helmet and there was a definite ridge of polystyrene that was causing the problem. I 'massaged' the ridge and when I put it back on I placed it a little further forward on my head and it was fine. Just getting to know the fit I suppose. The chin guard isn't really made to put down whilst your riding, you really do have to push it back with some force to lock it off opening it is a piece of cake though. The guard on one occasion wouldn't shut right it wouldn't push back to lock off. Once again this was my doing not the helmet. I wear a neck buff and it had snagged. I check this every time now.
There is a lot of talk about the weight of the Shark but honestly I can't feel it and with my neck I certainly would if it were a problem. With the chin guard over the back I still have no weight or stability issues.
The noise levels are good and now I have my MRA screen on I have had to turn down the ipod.
I have a choice of helmets to wear and as I look at them now the only one that isn't in a bag is the Shark, I have only worn one other since I got the Shark. I would change only one thing on the helmet and that is the depth of the sun shield it really needs to be another cm longer.
Overall I am really impressed with it, it's the best helmet I have owned in 34 years.

Sorry for my overstight guys.

I tried one on last week. It is nicely finished but it is very very heavy - It weighs well over 4 lbs!!!

I think Texsota Pete has one of these! I believe that's what he was wearing on the Big Bend Bash ride. You might PM him to see how he likes it....

I bought one a couple weeks ago to use as my Range Helmet. That way I can ride to class in a full face and coach in a 3/4.

I wear a medium and had to buy a small to get the proper fit. I too found that "ridge" on the front and will need to massage it. I did find that this helmet needs rotated a bit forward to fit properly.

All in all it is a very well built helmet and is solid and secure. I have no issue raising or lowering the front piece while riding.

they claim to be the only helmet on the market with a 5 year warrity....not true ...Vemar has 5 year coverage on theirs. I do like the idea of a spring loaded visor though.
