Helmets New scorpion exo-700

t-bone

Got my brand new replacement helmet from doug at scorpion, had a vent cover in from fall off, but I lost my chin cover, wind and noise suppressor thingy in shipping

Since you asked if it's any good, here's my personal experience with one. I had one, good helmet. Broke a sheild hinge after warranty, the sent me new one and refused to let me pay.

It didn't fit me right (tight) in the cheeks, but that's not the helmets fault.

During any Super extreme downpours I had some visibility-small leakage issues type trouble with the visor. not much in the way of interior airflow over my scalp, but Ok up the inside of the face shield. They failed the DOT test one year (2005-2006 DOT test?). The failure was on the cold weather portion of the test as I remember. I can't remember the year of failure exactly now, since it's been a few years since I looked into it, I researched it and saw they decided to handle it by saying nothing unless it was brought up, I contacted them and they claimed they had the problem in hand. I likely still have their email to me on one of my computers somewhere answering the DOT failure problem).

Other than that it was a good helmet. Crash tested it at low speeds (from squatting position to thump on my face, and didn't even feel the thump. Replaced it after the thump with something else (something else mainly due to the fit issue).

I have track tested my EXO-700 and I will tell you that it did a very good job. Did a face plant, a couple of rolls and the bike landed on top of me. I immediately ordered another Scorpion.

I've tested Arai and Shoei as well. They all do a great job for protection, but for the money, the EXO- 700 is the way to go.

The fit really depends on the shape of one's head. I have a long oval shape. I can see if you are round that most Arai models will fit better but cost considerably more. Most helmet manufacturers have replacement sizes for helmet liners. Contact your dealer and ask. A smaller size cheek padding may make all the difference in the world to you.
