I got a soft brake pedal this spring when I started running my 2010 ST1300 non ABS, basic. Checked my pads and found them low enough to replace. Got some rear brake pads. When I went to retract the rear pistons I found a sticking front piston in my rear caliper. So I got some new outer pistons, seals, washers, pads. I took apart the caliper and left the lines free for a couple of days. Maybe that was my error.
When I got every thing together I went to do a bleed and I can't get a rear pedal. Front came together fine, of course the hydraulics were left closed on the front, I just bled per the book and following the many posts in the brake articles. My front lever feels great.
I started the rear hydraulics by putting a vacuum on the proportioning valve bleed and exercising the brake pedal and the SMC. No love, I tried doing the rear caliper too, but nada. No leaks, not a bit of pumping can be felt at the rear master pedal.
I'm going to continue checking. I have the Honda manual.
What's the process, drain first? I did not do a drain.
Nevermind, found it...I had not removed the rear reservoir diaphragm, what a dope.
