Sometimes, especially after I use primarily the front brake to slow/stop, I get two ABS lights to flash.
When I hit the ABS switch, they stop flashing but stay illuminated...
When I turn the key off, then back on, all seems forgiven...
I would imagine that the ABS on the ST1100 fails in a similar manner to automobiles: when it is broken, the ABS doesn't work, but the brakes work in a "conventional" manner?
Is this occasional event something I should annoy myself with?

Thanks

You will always have brakes even if the ABS is napping. You can read the lights if you have a manual. If not, post the exact sequence for help.
I said you will always have brakes,,,that is not always the case if you are playing n the dark side. That can be a hairy matter. DAMHIK

There should be an error code saved any time you see the ABS light illuminate while riding. The procedure to extract the codes is easy, but you'll need the manual to de-code them and trouble shoot.

Okay...now it appears to me as if this is heat related...
Riding at Daytona in 90* heat, and heavy traffic, it began to blink regularly....
Nothing else changed except it cooled down in the evening and PRESTO....no Binky!
This morning, it was cooler and no Binky...
I think I'll flush the fluids and see what happens....

Have fun

I took the following steps, after thinking about it:
1) cleaned the pick-ups real well....first with contact cleaner, then with soapy water, then rinsed well.
2) cleared the codes.

I've ridden about 90 miles since and no blinky-blinky...

Have fun!

Wow.....Thanks jfheath Some good info there....
Curious as to why you replaced the wheel bearings? I felt mine @ 32K miles and they are fine....likewise the steering head bearings (where they "notchy"?).....
Similar question about the exhaust....

Thanks for the good info!
