Couldn?t resist the great deal Newenough had on the Oxtar Infinity boots. I needed some better riding boots anyway, as I have been riding using a pair of flimsy JR boots.
These Oxtar boots are a different type of boots all-together. One, they are a lot higher than my old ones, two, they offer a lot more protection, three, they are waterproof. At first look, they seem to be a cross between off-road and touring boots. At any rate, Oxtar calls them touring boots. They are made from full-grain leather, gore-tex lined inside, CE approved ankle armor, chin plate, steel shank insole and reinforced toe box. The inside side of the boots has suede panels. As in most boots, they?ve got shifter re-enforcements on both left and right boot. The feet are easy to articulate up and down right out of the box thanks to the area in the front and back of the boot that are very easy to move. If you look closer, they are very similar to the BMW Savanna boots. I suspect Oxtar makes them for BMW, and BMW slaps another $100 on top.

When I started using them, they felt very comfortable to ride in, and to walk in. The only thing I had problem with initially was to get a feel for the gear shifter, being completely different from what I had previously worn. After a couple of rides though, I got used to it. When they were new, the buckles on the sides were a little hard to adjust, well maybe not hard, but fiddled with them quite a bit to get the right tension when I first started using them. There is plenty of Velcro closure on top left to keep summer riding pants as well as kneehigh sock inside these boots, but don?t think Firstgear HT overpants will fit inside. (Haven?t tried yet though)

I always use gel soles in my riding boots, and ordered the boots a tad big for that reason. If you don?t, and you use Scholl?s (did I spell that right?)gel soles or similar, these boots will be on the tight side. All in all, the best boots I have ever had my feet in, bar none. Have used them down to 27F, and feet stayed warm. Very comfortable right out of the box, and becomes even better as they get used. Highly recommended, IMO.

Hey Tor...

Thanks for the review...I will be in the market late winter/early spring and these may be the answer..

BTW...
What is your sneaker size and what size boots did you get??

Shoes/Sneakers 10 1/2. I bought the Oxtars in size 11. Perfect fit (with gel soles)

I agree with Terry the Matrix Goretek are a good boot 5 years and no issues. Hard to say what will be on the market when/if these wear out!

L O V E,,, THEM!!!

Tell me,,, in 3,987 words or less,,, why I would want these boots over the Matrix??? ;)

Just a matter of taste, Terry. My wife has the Matrix boots. They look more girly :D ,,,ok, just kidding, man. The infinities just looked more sturdy, and are a little higher. That was my reasoning for buying the Infinities.

Edit: And with a regular price approaching Sidi Onroads, $260 (my original choice for new boots) I figured this was a super deal.

I have to agree with you on that.

I've got an old pair of BMW Gore-Tex boots which refuse to die. But when they do, the Oxtars will be their replacement.

Todd this dealer in Ridgefield Ct, Branchville Motors has an excellent selection. Found them by accident looking for Gerbing outer pants and was very impressed by the apparel they carry. I ended up buying the Gerbing pants there along with Sidi Thunder boots and a pair of Held gloves. They also carry the Oxtar line. The actual clothing section is in the Vespa store. Bonus was the backroads I took to get there and home again :)

How much,,, Higher???

And also,,, the Infinity look like they might be a little warmer boot being they hug your calf with elastic it looks like...

A good thing for a cool weather boot but,,, in the summer,,, that might not be such a hot idea,,, or,,, I mean,,, it WOULD be a hot idea...

Opinions??? Discuss... :D

About 2 1/2 - 3 inches higher, Terry. As for being hot in the summer, I'll let you know next spring/summer ;)

After scouring the web reading reviews on these boots I called and ordered a pair today. I bought the Matrix last year and sent them back because I wanted a beefier boot than they turned out to be. Looks like these may fit the bill. Should have them late next week or early the week after. I currently wear Sidi Vert2's and they are great, just not really touring oriented.

The Infinity boots came today and I-eeeeeee Like-mmmmmm. A little stiff out of the box (as any new boot/shoe will be) but I have worn them around the house since I got home from work and they feel great. Went out and sat on the bike with them and they felt fine as well.

So far they are just what I was looking for - a protective, comfortable, waterproof touring boot (in that order). I pondered over the Matrix for a couple days before I decided to send them back. I have already cut the tags off this pair. :D

I walked around at work in mine when commuting to work. Took about 2 days before I was able to articulate the ankles fully. Love mine too.
