I cast off may apathy and took the ST out for a spin. I was greeted by a small miracle. The fuel gauge has NEVER worked right. The float rheostat in the top tank reads the correct Ohm range (I checked). The thermistor, in the lower tank, was replaced with one that is supposed to be in the appropriate range. (This all stems from the fact that my fuel pump bracket was in the worst shape I have ever seen for an in-tank fuel pump. The OEM thermistor was destroyed by corrosion. Even the plastic wire wraps were disintegrated. ) I replaced the fuel pump and filter but the fuel gauge just blinks. Today I cranked up the bike and the the gauge blinked one bar. That has never happened. Usually it just blinks and the gauge read full. I just use my trip mileage to keep track of my fuel. Currently, the upper tank as a little fuel in it but not much.

This might have something to do with my battery voltage getting low. About two weeks ago I tried to get the bike out. It's my own fault. I had been neglecting the bike and the battery would not spin the engine. I put it on the slow charge and it's fine now. I am just wondering if I reset something?

Was there any kind of additive or cleaner in the fuel while it has been sitting? If so, this may have dissolved any varnish that was present to restore function. If not, I can't think of a reason why anything that you have mentioned would make any difference. No need to look a gift horse in the mouth, enjoy the win!
