Hellos,
I am changing brake fluids, and in the front brake master cylinder a loose part lay. In the fiche it's called "protector", part no. 45512MA6006 . See image for photo.

What's the purpose of it and how should it be mounted?

Tanks,
R.

What's the purpose of it

As for the purpose... it covers the (fluid) return port of the MC (leaving room for fluid return at the same time). The usefulness of it... mostly when doing MC work (changing fluid, bleeding, etc.) as when (rapidly) releasing the lever fluid will squirt out all over the place as I found out several times while working on hydraulic brakes/clutches.
