Rain Gear Frogg Toggs or TOur Master

FWIU... the Frogg Toggs will not keep you dry in a really good downpour  I have a Nelson Riggs setup than works great... even after 2 years. I think the TourMaster is like the NR suit ;)

I've got some Frogg Toggs but they started leaking in the crotch after a short period of time. However, many riders love them.

I don't have any experience with Tour Master rain gear.

My main problem with rain gear is having to put it on.. I prefer to spend a little extra and get gear that has gore-tex or some kind of water proof layer built into it.. That way, you just keep riding.

I do have a joe rocket mesh jacket and a waterproof liner I put on if it rains but it's and inner liner and not as hard to handle as the bigger rain gear you put on over the rest of your gear.

Just my .47 cents.

+2 on the Frogg Toggs. My first set were wonderful, never leaked no matter how much rain it got. They kinda wore out after a few years and the new set leaked at the crotch the first good shower. My Stitch is my rain gear now, but am thinking of getting a tour master.

We don't have much good to say about the Frog Togs. They leaked at the crotch, the legs were to short and if we did not wear the hood our chests got soaked.

Having tried lots of rain gear my favorite is the cycleport "Penta" jacket and a pair of "Power Trip" over pants with a seperate waterproof liner (that works) and an outer light riding pant. Each part zips all the way up each leg so I don't have to do the rain pant dance with my size 15's anymore.

STeve bought some Frogg Toggs during the rainfest that was AquaSTOC last year. He did not stay dry. Those of us with regular textile jackets and pants that we had treated with Camp Dry or something similar stayed dry.

I have used Cabela's Guidewear Gore Tex jacket and pants since I bought this bike. No matter how much, long, or how hard it rains it will keep you dry. It's a bit pricey though. But right now they are closing it out for the new model. I think the old stuff is much better than the new stuff, I was there a week or so ago to see it and liked mine better. Here is a link

Mt parent have Frogg Toggs... never heard any comments though as they are fair weather rirders only.

I say just get a Aerostich and no other gear is ever needed...

Frogs are great in a pinch, however, you get what you pay for. Frogs might last you a season and develop leaks over time. Textiles cost more and last longer. Belfast and Aerostitch are great, IMHO, for all weather ridding.

I have a FirstGear suit that I bought maybe seven years ago that's done very well and rolls down enough that it doesn't take up much space. The closest thing they sell to it is the Sierra.

I have the Nelson Rigg two piece suit and it is doing great at 4 years. If you want to test your rain gear, go on a ride I am heading to :D .

The NR is not breathable, so it can get a little "warm" at times but it also makes the ultimate windproof barrier in cold weather.

Combined with the Road Gear waterproof gloves and my Oxtar Matrix boots, I stay dry even in the heaviest of downpours...

I have the Tour Master pants and they have keep me completely dry all day riding in rain. Like the boot strap for keeping the legs in place. Also has heat shields on the legs. While I don't need these on the ST, they are nice to have on the Road Star. My jacket is a First Gear Rainman, also an excellent choice.

The one time Chris visits Santa Rosa, NM... it rains/floods to break a record :wind1:

Like Bones said above I had to use them because I left my Nelson Rigg suit at home Doh! The Toggs didn't hold up to the kind of rain we saw. I agree with mellow. The way to go is with Gore-Tex or the like I do carry my Nelson Rigg stuff now. Lesson learned.:03biker:
